Java House specialized in Indonesian coffee and served up fresh pastries and sandwiches from their ovens. Another early cafe on Saturday Street was Dutch Bros., which opened its doors in 1924. Dutch Bros.} was one of the first cafes to offer canned coffee as well as ground beans. The shop also sold ice cream and cigarettes. In 1951, Dutch Bros.} merged with another café, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which became known as The Coffee Spot.
