Palmdale, California is a city located in the Mojave Desert in Southern California. This led to the construction of many new homes throughoutPalmdale during those years- some still standing today (e.g., Lakeside Villas).In 1942, General George Marshall arrived in California on Air Force One to give his Address to American Citizens on their Homefront campaign tour; he made mention of "the beautiful cityscape just outside my window" which he had seen while touring southern California during his previous visit two weeks earlier (November 17th). On October 12th 1945 - almost seventy years later - when Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Manned Maneuvering Unit 3B ("Mudflaps") historic mission became history as it lifted off from Edwards AFB (KNAP) following successful completion thereof -General Marshall noted: "I am glad I saw your beautiful cityscape just outside my window", continuing on "It will be difficult enough keeping our citizens informed without having them know how good they are doing while we're away." Those comments likely helped generate public support both within America itself- evidenced by numerous donations being made directly to PALMDALE'S local Red Cross chapter after that event- as well as internationally through letters received from people across various nations expressing appreciation for UPNL's achievements during WWII including Japan's surrender! The Jet Propulsion Laboratory Museum was opened adjacent thereto on November 9th 1951 commemorating fifty years since MUDFLAPS' launch! Today there remains much evidence demonstrating how successfully R&D has characterized America's Mightiest Generation! After World War II endedantaquisition began which led to significant changes throughout downtown Palmdales corelocated at 5th Street & Western Avenue where large companies such as McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Manufacturing Company moved into newly built buildings starting with McDonnellDouglas Building No 1 on December 15th 1948/49 becoming one of largest employers ever within a single building within Downtown LA limits!! Other major companies associated with Downtown Santa Clarita include Lockheed Martin Corporation Headquarters relocate enroute from Marfa along Riverside Drive North then down Western Ave until reaching their current location next door at 6000 W Western Ave next door KFC also headquartered here briefly before moving out again but left behind significant research & development laboratories which continue today all situated around one large plaza area bounded by 5 th St NW corner Ewert Rd corner Main St Suite 400 block Today all big company headquarters are located either inside or very close together like Lockheed Martin Corporation Headquarters relocated enroute from Marfa along Riverside Drive North then down Western Ave until reaching their current location next door at 6500 W Western Ave next door Monsanto plants have been growing here since long ago too
