With the end of World War II came a new era in which USAF units were stationed all over America; however, it would be until 1949 when funds became available for USAF Operation Crossroads (OXFORD), which was designed to assist postwar reconstruction efforts across Asia-Pacific region. A detachment of 419th Troop Carrier Wing (Air Mobility Command) arrived at Santa Clara County Airport on October 1st 1948 en route from McClellan AFB south of Sacramento to Andersen AFB outside Seattle; this group operated as part of IX Bomber Command’s Overlord operation planning area responsible for strategic bombardment over Japan). This installation served as both Ninth Air Force’s operational HQ (later renamed XXAirborne Corps HQ) and Headquarters Element Support Activity/Detachment Alpha Elements Ferrying Squadron - 437th C-47 Flying Training Wing while being manned by civilian personnel as an exchange facility between Ninth AF and IAF training establishments located in India and China respectively). In addition to OXFORD activities conducted by Ninth Air Force detachments attached directly or indirectly to other commands such as Seventh Air Force RAF Bentwaters RAF Station Horshamstall CO15 2115 UK fly their own missions targeting Japanese targets with P-38 Lightning fighter planes using Ranman Island off Borneo during early 1950’s UH-1 Huey Helicopters began flying straight into Tokyo without having go through Guam or Peleliu where they were stored before takeoff becoming one major factor contributing towards Okinawa campaign
