In the early 1900s, Paramount was a small town in California. The air force was one of the first organizations to be deployed in World War I and even earlier during World War II. In addition to military service, Paramount played an important role in the development of aviation through its many businesses and institutions that continue to thrive today. The Paramount Air Force Base is a significant part of this history, as it has been home to the United States Air Force for over sixty years. It has also seen some incredible deployments throughout its history including combat missions in both World Wars I and II as well as Operation Neptune’s Spear during Vietnam. Today, the Paramount Air Force Base provides access to vital air support services across Southern California and into adjacent Nevada. With such a rich history, it’s no wonder that there are so many contributing families that have depended on its capabilities since inception.

The timeline began on December 12th, 2017 with the deployment of 1st Lt. Col. Christopher A. Kuehnen from Kelly AFB in San Antonio Texas as part of Operation Golden Globe which included flying into support of Marine Forces Southwest Asia (MFWAS) during their campaign against terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Since its inception, the U.S. Air Force Gift History has brought smiles to faces of Members and Families stationed throughout Southern California from both local communities and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson(JBER), where Col. Kuehnen serves as commanding officer for 9 Wing at Miramar basecamp!

In 1951, when NATO was formed, the United States Air Force donated two McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom fighter jets as part of a NATO military exchange program. This was followed by an additional McDonnell Douglas F5E Tiger fire control plane in 1954. These donations were not just symbolic - these planes were actually used by NATO during their conflicts in Europe. In 1978, when President Jimmy Carter became president, he decided to send American soldiers on military ballots across Europe for Christmas season instead of sending them home with family members. This is when America's first deployed gift arrived - a T-38 Talon jet trainer aircraft! The RAF appreciated this gesture so much that they offered to buy similar planes from America! The studio became known for feature films such as The Great Gatsby, Sunset Boulevard, and One Hundred Years of Solitude. In 1948, Paramount merged with MGM to form Universal Pictures.Universal produced some of the biggest box office hits in Hollywood history such as Forrest Gump, Rocky Balboa, and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. However, during the 1990s Universal began experiencing financial problems which led to its bankruptcy in 2000. In January 2009 it was announced that Comcast had agreed to purchase Universal Pictures for $65 billion. Under Comcast's ownership Paramount has been struggling to keep up with new technology like 4K Ultra HD video playback and new releases like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Paramount, California was founded on July 29, 1887 by Captain John Clipper and his wife Sarah. When the first post office opened in the township of Paramount on that date, it was named after Captain Clipper's ship, the "Pequod". The name was changed to Paramount in 1907. The town of Paramount grew rapidly during the early years of its existence and by 1912 had a population of over 1,500 people. In 1915, Paramount became an incorporated municipality with a population of over 10,000 people. By 1920, Paramount had become one of the most important agricultural centers in Southern California. In 1990, Paramount was awarded city status and began to enjoy more extensive services such as water supply and fire protection. In 2003, the city annexed neighboring unincorporated communities of Hollywood Hills and Bel-Air into its boundaries. Today, much of what once made up these communities is now within the boundaries of Hollywood Hills Reservoir Park
