Air Force gift history in Paramount, California began with the establishment of an air force post at the local airport in 1938. The first squadron was activated at the airport on November 1, 1938. The first major gift to the Air Force from a civilian community was given by Mrs. Lillian Bickman of Paramount on December 12, 1939. She gifted $1,000 to the Air Force for its new fighter planes being developed at nearby Willow Grove airstrip. On July 1, 1941, a more significant gift was given when Mrs. Harry Payne Whitney donated $20,000 towards purchases necessary for the creation of a bomber Wing at the nearby Vandenberg AFB. This donation marked not only an important milestone in AF's Heritage but also signaledpegadence for Paramount and its citizens as they witnessed one of America's most dramatic military expansions in recent history. With World War II drawing near and growing need forAAF assets throughout North America, numerous donations were received from local businesses and individuals alike during 1945-1946 alone including: $10,000 from Mayor Forbes; $30,000 from Mr. & Mrs.(Mrs.) John Apted; $40,000 from Wernher von Braun; and finally $50,000 from Mr.(Mrs.) Edgar Bronfman Sr.. In 1947-1948 gifts totaled over $200K which demonstrate just how much patriotism and love people had for their country during wartime times. On October 16th 1948 Mr.(Mrs.) Edward Riddle provided an unprecedented donation of $5 million dollars towards USAF development goals across all wings across America! This mammoth donation not only validated Pacific Palisades as home to one ofAmerica's most vibrant aerospace communities but it also represented another visionary step forward for our Armed Forces as we entered intothe Cold War era!

In 1934–35, Selznick produced 100 movies for Republic Pictures which led to his studio becoming known as America's largest producer of pictures before MGM regained supremacy following World War II. Republic merged with United Artists in 1942 to form United Artists Corporation (UAC) which then merged with MGM again during World War II into what would become Universal Studios Incorporated (USI). In 1948 UAC produced its last feature film - A Place For Mr. Kite - before being sold to Columbia University's Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) for $3 million less than USI had paid for it two years earlier. CBS kept UAC folded until 1954 when it sold off all its assets including UAC's movie library including many now classic films such as Mutiny On The Bounty and Casablanca
