When Arlene Schnitzer opened her first coffee shop in Paramount, California in the early 1970s, it was a small operation with only two cups of coffee. This began the now popular trend of artisanal coffee, which refers to coffee that is hand-roasted and brewed on-site. Today, there are over 50artisanal coffee shops throughout California (and beyond), and each has their own unique flavor and history. Here are some of our favorites: 1) Vincent's Coffee & Cafe in Hollywood – This business was started by Vincent LaFontaine in 1968 and is still one of the most well-known artisanal coffee joints in town. They serve up delicious roasts, smoothies, pastas, sandwiches and more all day long! 2) The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Redondo Beach – With over 20 years of experience serving up delicious cupcakes, cookies and other sweet treats for customers to enjoy while they drink their hot java or espresso at this establishment, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf truly knows how to make a good cup of Joe! 3) Three Dog Night Brewery – Home to some of the most innovative roasts around (including peppermint chocolate chip), Three Dog Night Brewery is an amazing spot for those looking for some extra specialoomie love!

The first coffee shop in Paramount was opened by a group of Italian immigrants in 1892. The name of the business at that time was "Giovanni's Coffee Shop." In 1915, the shop changed its name to "Porter's Coffee House." In 1951, the store changed its ownership and became known as "Starbucks." In 1984, Starbucks moved into their current location on Hollywood Boulevard. Since 2009, Starbuck has been donating each day of the year to various organizations in Compton and Los Angeles.

The first espresso machine was created in 1865 by Giovanni Battista Bormio, an Italian inventor and entrepreneur who also founded La Marzocco Coffee Company. Bormio's invention was used to make Turkish Delight which later became popularized by Starbucks. There have been many other pioneers in the industry who have helped shape the modern incarnation of artisan coffee. Some of these include Stefan Koeppl (founder of Keurig), Tim Ferriss (founder of Ferriss Coffee) and Harold McGee (creator of Maven Coffee). All three men helped develop various aspects of craft coffee - from roasting beans to packaging and marketing. They shared their experiences and knowledge with others in order to help further develop this unique sector of the food industry. Today, artisan coffee continues to grow popularity due to its unique flavor profile and impressive production capabilities.
