In 1967, it was purchased by Peet's Coffee Corporation and changed its name back to Paramount Coffee and Tea again in 1970. Paramount is a city in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 82,611 at the 2010 census. Paramount is one of the most affluent cities in Southern California and has been known for its film industry since 1915. It is also home to the Paramount Pictures Studios and 20th Century Fox Film Corporation. The first movie studios were set up in Pasadena by William Hays in 1912. By 1916, Paramount had outgrown its original location on La Brea Avenue and moved to its current site on Western Avenue east of downtown Los Angeles. In 1928, Paramount merged with Columbia Pictures, creating what would become one of Hollywood's largest studios. The studio continued to grow through the years until it merged with MGM in 1996 and became part of their newly created Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Motion Picture Company (MPC). Today, MPC operates all but two of Hollywood's major theaters - Regal Stadium 16 in downtown Los Angeles and AMC Theatres across town at Universal CityWalk - as well as dozens of smaller venues throughout Southern California. In 2006 MPC acquired Iconix Media Networks which included exclusive rights to make all sorts of children's programming including Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, PBS Kids (now part of WB), My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, Teen Titans Go! Despite its popularity, espresso isn’t actually a very old beverage – it only became really popular in recent decades thanks to technological advancements! Paramount, California was founded on April 17, 1800 by the community of Spanish Fork. The area now known as Paramount was part of Rancho Cuchillo, granted to Jose Maria Cisneros in 1824. On July 8, 1853, the first post office in what is now Paramount was established. In 1865, Gold Rush gold seekers discovered silver and gold in the area. The following year saw a population increase when ranch hands from neighboring ranches came to work in the new mines. By 1880, Paramount had a population of 1,500 people and a school for students from grades K-4. The Panic of 1893 caused a decrease in production at the mines and an exodus of workers to other parts of America. The town prospered until World War I when it lost its access to water resources due to war efforts and economic instability in California. After the war, agriculture became more important and commerce slowly began returning to town during the 1920s and 1930s. In recent years there has been an effort made by local businesses and residents to revive downtown Paramount with new businesses/projects (e.g., restoration of older buildings), programming for local artists (e.g., music concerts), marketing events (e.g., car shows) and increased use by tourists for activities such as fishing or hiking along scenic routes through the surrounding countryside

In 1916, the company became a general film producer with a main studio in Hollywood. Paramount developed its own post-production and editing facility, which helped make its films look better than those of other studios. In 1948, Paramount merged with United Artists to become one of the largest film studios in the world. In 1957, they bought out UA's share in their parent company for $16 million. In 1974, they sold their remaining interest in United Artists to Time Warner Brothers. They then became known as MGM/UA until 2000 when they merged with Sony Pictures Entertainment to form Sony Picture Corporation
