Parlier is a small town in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of the San Bernardino Mountains, about 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Los Angeles and 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Riverside. The name "Parlier" comes from an early Spanish settlement called La Hacienda de las Aguas Calientes or "The Rancho La Hacienda." The first post office was established in 1887, and the town was incorporated in 1907. In 1923 Parlier had a population of 350; by 1960 it had grown to 2,000 residents. In 1990 it had increased to 3,500 residents. Today Parlier's economy is based largely on agriculture with some manufacturing included as well.

Parlier, California is a small city located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,818 at the 2000 census. The city is named after Parlier Vineyard in Mendocino County. The City of Parlier was platted on December 9, 1859 by Wm. B. Hickey and Jno. Ayer with a land grant of 640 acres (248 ha). The first post office in Parlier was established on February 14, 1860; it was renamed Highland on May 1, 1865 due to the addition of what is now Highland Heights to the town limits. On November 5, 1867 an act of the State Legislature authorized the erection of a school for female students in what is now known as Highland Park; this school became known as Parlier High School on October 9, 1870. In 1902 a millrace called "Napa" ran through downtownParlier and formed part of the watershed that supplies water to irrigation canals throughout Kern County; following its abstraction by Union Water Company in 1907 it became subject to state water rights regulations which led to its eventual condemnation and replacement by groundwater-drilling operations which continue today beneath Peña Boulevard east of Highway 395 and west of Interstate 895 within walking distance of both high schools and government buildings including county Courthouse and jail—the last vestige remaining from when this area supported over 12 miles (19 km) worth of transportation during agricultural years across several valleys before becoming difficultly drained wasteland surrounded only by vast desertification since 1970 due to Salinas River inflows into nearby Lake Elsinore which has caused major erosion affecting some parts down to 100 feet (−30 m) below mean sea level...............................................................................
Parlier, California was founded on December 12, 1849 by John Parlier and his wife Martha. The town was named for Arleen Parlier, the daughter of John and Martha Parlier. In 1860, the Parliesers moved to a more permanent home on the east side of town. On October 10, 1871, California became a state and in 1872 the Parliesers donated land to build a school. The first building in Parlier was built in 1875 and it served as both a public library and school until 1942 when it was destroyed by fire. The second building was built in 1951 and it currently serves as the town hall.
