In the early 1900s, a small family-owned coffee shop called The Coffee Shop in Parlier, California sold its coffee beans direct to consumers. The Coffee Shop was later renamed The Blue Bottle and remains open today as one of the most well-known artisan coffee shops in the area. In 1984, The Coffee Shop was inducted into the California Brewers Hall of Fame.

Parlier is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 1,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield–Ontario Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name of the community is derived from Mary Parlier, who donated land for a school in 1868. The first resident of Parlier was Mrs. Elizabeth Donnelly in 1868. At that time, there were just four families living in Parlier and all were subsistence farmers who raised chickens, pigs and beef cattle on their own property. In 1922, when the First Interstate Highway was built through Kern County, Chico cotton farmer Harry Smedley moved to Parlier and started processing cotton bales into goods such as flour or carpeting before shipping them off to other parts of the United States. In 1930, local rancher Rufus Eastman bought 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of town and began to develop it into an agricultural community with a post office, bank, store and several homes. By 1940, there were over 100 residents inParlier and most had established themselves as independent farmers or ranchers with their own herds of sheep and cows. Many people here still farm today; some have even doubled up as full-time residents while continuing to ranch out their land back home." "Today's Parlier is one of those rare examples where both its physical setting - nestled among rolling hills near Ontario Road - and its occupants - many descendants of pioneers who founded this community more than 50 years ago - reflect its original spirit."

In 1868, Wyleigh built what is now known as the First National Bank of Sacramento – one of the largest banks in California at that time. Over time,Parlier turned into one of Northern California's most vibrant cities with its own distinct cultural identity and history. Through its businesses and institutions – including two universities (University of Sacramento and Santa Clara University), several hospitals, as well as numerous other businesses – Parlier helped contribute significantly to both local economy and national culture during this period. Today, Parlier remains an important cultural hub within Northern California – home to many distinctive restaurants and nightlife options as well as some highly respected museums and galleries.

Parlier is a small town in south-central California, United States. The population was 5,553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. The town was named after Captain George Parlier, who fought in the Mexican–American War and served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army.
