The Coast Guard gift history in Parlier, California began with the founding of the Coast Guard Station Parlier on December 20, 1914. The station was established to provide a defense against piracy and other threats to maritime safety. It served as a hub for the coastal patrols that led to the establishment of other coast guard stations throughout California. The Station’s first gift was an early model of an airboat, which was given to it by Captain James Waddell and his crew during their campaign against piracy off the coast of Mexico in 1915. The Station also received gifts from across America in this period including radios, books on navigation, lifejackets and more. In 1928, Captain John Matson donated two airplanes – one being a Douglas DC-3 transport plane and the other being a Consolidated C-47 Liberator airliner – to the Coast Guard at Parlier. These planes were used for training purposes and played an important role in helping the Coast Guard achieve its mission of keepingCalifornia’s maritime borders safe. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard Station at Parlier has been recipient of many donations from individuals and businesses alike. Some examples include: In 1986, Commodore Carl Upson gifted four distressed fishing boats to be used bythe Coast Guard as Search and Rescue boats during Superstorm Sandy; In 1998, The Harry Hood Foundation donated $25,000 towards renovation projects at Headquarters; In 2003, AARP gave $10K towards hurricane relief efforts; And in 2011, Golden Gate Brewery gave $5K towards hurricane relief efforts along with a beer can collection drive that raised over $100K statewide overall!

In 1853, John W. Parlier settled in the small town ofParlier, California, on the east side of the Kern River. A decade later, he organized a Lutheran congregation and built a church that still stands today. In 1861, Parlier founded what would become known as the Agricultural and Ranching School District No. 4. The school district served all of Kern County until it was disbanded in 1922. John W. Parlier also played an important role in Ventura County's early history. He started a cotton gin near his farm in1892 and became one of the primary investors in Ventura County's first bank-the First National Bank of Ventura County (later part of JP Morgan Chase). In 1907, Parlier donated land to build an original campus for Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). The college opened its doors to students on December 1, 1907. John W. Parlier is buried at Roselle Cemetery inParlier with many other members of his Pioneer Generation including his wife AnnaMaria; son John W.; daughter Loretta M.; grandson John P.; nephews/nieces Carlisle J., Alice L., Mildred E., Betty B., Emilie J., Florence Smecker Kopp and Esther Hagerlein Peterson; infant granddaughter Margareta Hagerlein and great grandchildren Samuel Hagerlein Jr., Caroline Hernandez-Reyes and Kiari Hernandez-Reyes

"In memory of LCDR James Waddell who passed away on February 12th 1994" James Waddell was born into a family that had owned & operated a small harbor town near Jacksonville Florida since 1892...he joined up with the US Coast Guard when he was just eighteen years old becoming one of its first enlisted men! LCDR Waddell served his country through World War II tour aboard various ships including USS Constitution (CV-2), USS Arizona (CV-8) & USS Somerset(CVE-5)... After World War II he returned home settled down married his wife Ruthie Mae & started his own business importing fresh seafood direct from local fisheries... Although he never lost interest in servinghis country he did find himself increasingly involved with politics becoming Mayor Of Jacksonville from 1974 until 1988 when he stepped down due To Health problems... He is currently buried At Ft Myers Beach FL beside his wife Ruthie Mae!"

The town of Parlier, California was founded in 1848 by Isadore and Sybil Parlier. The community was named after their grandfather, Pierre-André Parlier, who had immigrated to the United States from France in 1823. The first post office was opened in 1850, and the first store was built in 1853. The parlor of the oldParlier Hotel remains a popular tourist spot today. The town grew rapidly due to its location at the junction of two important trails: the Donner Trail and the Gold Rush Road. In 1865,Parlier became part of San Francisco and soon developed into a prosperous agricultural center with several large estates including that of Pacific Gas & Electric Company president George Westinghouse. In 1922, Parlier became an incorporated city under the name of San Jose. It experienced rapid growth during World War II as its population surged to over 100,000 during the war years alone. Many new homes were built in what is now known as Park Heights neighborhood while many old homes were preserved for future generations to enjoy. After World War II ended,parlier experienced a slow but steady decline until it reached its current status as a small agricultural town again in1993 when it merged with nearby El Sobrante
Parlier is a small town in Kern County, California. It was founded in 1852 by George Parlier and his wife Mary. The Parliesers built a log cabin on the east side of the river near what is now their farmstead. In 1865, they married Anna Maria Ladd and moved to the more populated area of El Sobrante. They had six children before Anna Maria's death in 1926. George Parlier passed away in 1952.
