When the California Navy Yard first opened in 1851, it was the only navyyard in America. The navy yard was originally built to build warships for the United States Navy, but soon began building other types of ships as well. After World War II, the navy yard became responsible forbuilding submarines and aircraft carriers. In 1949, the navyyard built its first nuclear-powered ship, USS President Ford. In 1969, USS Constitution Museum was dedicated at the naval yard after being preserved by a group of anonymous donors. After 25 years of operation and over 1 million dollars in donations from individuals and businesses throughout California, USS Constitution Museum Closed its Doors on July 1st 2019 after an extensive restoration process that included updating all its exhibits with new digital technology.

Plier is a small town in northern California. It was founded in 1868 by John D. Parlier and his wife, Sarah. The town has a population of about 2,500 people today. John D. Parlier was born in 1821 in the town of Northampton, Massachusetts. He worked as a farmer until he moved to California in 1851 to become a landowner and pioneer. In 1865, he married Sarah Jane Goodall, who was also from Northampton. They settled in what is now Parlier and built the first school there. The Parlieses were active members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and helped build churches and schools throughout their settlement area. John D., Sr., died in 1906; Sarah Jane continued to run the home until her death in 1960. Their son, John D., Jr., succeeded them as owner/operator of the town's affairs until his death in 1984

In 1848, John W. Parlier settled in the area around modern-day Parlier, California after fleeing religious persecution in his native Hungary. He founded a farm and Mission Station called Rancho San Francisco de las Casas near present-day Paso Robles. In 1854, Parlier donated land to the State of California for a new state capital, which was eventually named Sacramento. In 1858,Parlier sold his rancho to Frédéric Doniphan for $2,000. A few years later, Doniphan donated the land to the Catholic Church for use as a seminary and school complex known as Rancho Santa Fe del Cielo. The property remained in private hands until it was purchased by the University of Southern California in 1928 and became part of USC's campus. In 1872, Parlier met American Civil War veteran Dominguez who had been turned away from an agricultural college in Mexico because he could not afford tuition. Dominguez helped him start a successful vineyard on their rancho and soon became one of Parlier's most trusted friends and advisers during his government business ventures. In 1902,Parlier married Isabelle Guillermo y Castilla; they would have two children before she died in 1917 aged 83 years old). Both John W.–Isabelle Andresen & Frédéric Doniphan were buried at Calvary Cemetery north of downtown Los Angeles
The town of Parlier was founded in 1856 by George and Judith Parlier. The town was named after the two brothers who founded it. The first post office in Parlier was established in 1857. In 1862, the Northern Pacific Railroad built a line through Parlier, which made it possible for people to transportation goods and services to and from San Francisco. In 1865, the town had a population of just five people. By 1870, however,Parlier had developed into a small community with a population of 30-40 people. In 1872, Parlier became an incorporated city. The city's first mayor was John Waddell and its first councilman was Auld McDonald. In 1915, the city annexed neighboring towns of Spring Valley and White Sands to form the City ofParlier.
