The Pasadena Army Depot was founded in 1916 as the Western Branch of the Southern California Arsenal. It served as a munitions storage and distribution center for the Union forces during World War I, and then became an armory for the California National Guard. The depot closed its doors in 1967, but it reopened in 1972 as the Pasadena Army Museum. The museum is now located on Mission Bay Boulevard between San Gabriel Avenue and Elmhurst Drive. Today, the Pasadena Army Depot provides a unique perspective on military history in Southern California. It houses an array of artifacts from throughout American history, including weapons used by both sides in World War II and items from the Mexican-American war. Additionally, the depot contains an exhibit about military life at Pasadena Memorial Park during World War II.
