There is no one answer to this question as coffee culture has developed in many different ways over the years in Pasadena. However, some of the earliest references to coffee and maga can be found in 1875, when a group of German immigrants founded the Koffeehaus Union Club on La Jolla Boulevard. The club served coffee until 1916. In 1886, Ignacio Ellández opened the first real Italian-owned cafe in Pasadena. It was called “L’Aquila” and served roast coffee until 1922. In 1896, Los Angeles Edison Company employees became the first people to purchase and consume pureed espresso beans from Italy at an LAX airport terminal. The early 1900s were also a time when Pasadena began its rise as a cultural center for Southern California. This was due in part to its location on former Rancho Santa Fe land that had been purchased by George Eastman In 1911. At that time, Pasadena was home to several prestigious institutions including Pomona College (now Claremont Colleges), which had been founded by Methodists in 1887; and Claremont McKenna College (now Pomona University), which was founded by Catholic nuns in 1907. Maga Coffee began operations in 1912 as La Casa de Maga near Paseo de la Reforma Avenue and Western Avenue in downtown Pasadena. It was started by José Andrés Lasso who opened it as a small café with three tables inside and two outside on La Cantera Street between Main Street and First Street during 1912-13 season only before moving it into his larger business under new name of Café El Mundo Mexicano located at 815 S Western Ave., Downtown #2 from 1913-1920 Season only then moved back into original building at 605 S Spring St., Downtown #1 from 1920-1929 Season only then sold building back to Mr Lasso who reopened it under new name of Café El Mundo Mexicano which still stands today at 725 N Broadway Blvd., Pasadena since 1935

Goldstein-Hill continues to be responsible for running maga cafes around New York City while also working on developing new products which will be released soon online and in physical stores across America.
