The event took place at the Pasadena Recreation and Park District and was attended by United States Marines from Camp Pendleton, CA and Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. The Marines distributed gifts to the local population during a period of time that included Christmas, New Year's Eve, and Easter.
Pasadena, California is a city in the U.S. state of California and the county seat of Pasadena County. The population was 931,521 as of 2015 within the Pasadena-Rancho Monterey City boundaries. It lies in the San Gabriel Valley region of Southern California on the edge of Los Angeles County and is adjacent to Orange County to its south, Ventura County to its east, Kern County to its north and west, and Simi Valley to its south. The first people who settled in what is now Pasadena date back over 10,000 years! In 1871 when two brothers by the name of John Wolkoff and German immigrant Bernhard Neuman founded Wolkoffsville near present day Pasadena’s eastern border withOrange County, they were among the first Europeans to live permanently in what is now Pasadena. In 1876 Charles Hiaasen bought 1/2 mile (0.8 km) of land at what is now North Park Avenue for $100 from Roy Torrance. On November 15th, 1876 Hiaasen renamed his new town “Pasadena” after General Anthony Campanile – a hero during Mexican–American War whose remains are buried at Mt Hood Cemetery in Portland Oregon. With growth in southern California during this time period came an increased demand for water resources which led to construction on two large reservoirs: Lakewood Dam on Monrovia Boulevard and Arroyo Seco Dam on Arroyo Seco Creek immediately east of downtown Pasadena. These projects created flood control measures that continue today along major rivers throughout Southern California including those located here in Pasadena! In 1993 Measure B was passed which designated portions of Downtown streetscape as Historic Districts; thus opening up much more pedestrian traffic onto these streetscapes making them more vibrant! Today part or all of 5th Street between Elmira Road and La Brea Avenue (along with many other Historic district blocks), 3rd Street between Westmount Drive & Vinegar Hill Boulevard (along with many other areas), 4th Street between Barker Road & Temple Place (along with many other areas) are also included within this designation! On October 29th, 1992 Mayor Ruben Fernandez announced plans for development around South Central Plaza which would eventually become one of America’s leading shopping destinations center!!! This project became known as South Central Plaza II – a mixed-use development anchored by Macy’s Inc., Sears Holdings Corporation & JCPenney Incorporated!!!

Pasadena, California is the largest city in Los Angeles County and the fifth-largest city in California. The population of Pasadena was 753,636 as of 2010 according to the United States Census Bureau. It is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America. Pasadena has been inhabited by Llanos people since before European settlement. Spanish explorers arrived in what is now Pasadena on October 27, 1795 from San Diego and claimed it for Spain. Mexican land grants were given later, making it part of Alta California under Mexican rule. The U.S. bought Alta California from Mexico for $1825 in 1848, and renamed it West Texas during the American Civil War to keep east Texas from becoming a slave state that would have aligned with Mexico. The economic development of Pasadena began with its incorporation as a municipality on December 3, 1907 from portions of El Monte and Glendale Counties which had joined together to form Angeles City Limits Municipality after passage of a state law creating municipal boundaries within Los Angeles County.[1] El Monte became an independent town while Glendale became a city on November 6, 1909.[2][3] On February 14, 1915 Pasadena was incorporated as an unincorporated community within Los Angeles County by order of then- Mayor Jameson Riley[4] following passage of county resolution No. 982 establishing an "unitary government".[5][6] With the outbreak world war IitaWarI (1914-18), many businesses closed their doors due to prohibition laws; however by 1918 Pasadena had reemerged as a major center for military aviation manufacturing,[7][8][9][10] thanks largely to Glenn Curtiss's establishment thereof at his Curtiss Aircraft Company[11]. By 1920 downtown business districts were being developed parallel to State Avenue; this section now includes Midtown Center area bounded by North Robertson Boulevard (southwest corner), Pico Boulevard (east side), Long Beach Boulevard (northwest corner), and First Street/Exposition Park Drive (eastern edge). In 1923 local developer Edward Jaffe purchased land southeast of present day Robertson Road near Hillhurst Avenue for use as future public housing projects called Hacienda Heights and Green Hills although nothing ever came about with these plans.[12][13] During World War II much production took place at nearby Hawthorne Naval Air Station where over 100 aircraft types were produced including Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers such as those used against Tokyo during World War II[14], Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighters used against Japanese targets during the Pacific campaigns,[15],[16],[17], Douglas F5D Shark fighter bombers used against Japanese targets in Siberia,[18],[19],[20],[21], Bellanca P-51 Mustang fighters operational over Europe during 1944/1945,[22], Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye early warning radar aircraft flown both day and night over Japan during 1945/46,[23],[24];and McDonnell Douglas F4U Corsair jet trainers operated outfitted with retractable landing gear used by Marine Corps pilots flying training missions over Okinawa Island between late 1945 and early 1946
