A third company (Company D) arrived in Pasadena in 1895 and lasted until 1898 due to money shortages caused by World War I. In 1899 a detachment of Army Honor guards serving with the Spanish American War arrived in town and were absorbed into Companies E & F which remained active until 1901 when they were combined into one battalion which became Company G-2d Battalion LA National Guard Infantry Regiment #4 (now Company A-2d Battalion). This battalion also served for two years before disbanding on August 15th 1903 because there were not enough volunteers available for it; however this unit did serve as an artillery battery during World War II . This battalion also had a contingent assigned to duty with the United States Marines during World War II but that unit never received official recognition . Finally , on November 15th 1912 Headquarters Battery LASNational Guard Infantry Regiment #5(Now Battery B) arrives at what is now 5400 block East Fourth Street after being transferred from Florence Barracks military installation near San Bernardino Valley . That same year saw the activation of School District No 9's 2nd combat infantry brigade which spent three months training at Fort Bliss Texarkana prior to deployment against Ku Klux Klan members operating out of Chilton Motel near Houston Texas On December 1915 these troops marched through downtown Pasadena parading through Main Street followed by a night march across Arroyo Seco reservoir turning off Commerce Drive southbound past Old Town Hall then marching back up Arroyo Seco Parkway returning home After exercises concluding Christmas visit their families In 1916 these troops marched through downtown again but this time went straight uptown past City Hall then turned east onto Temple Place marched along Temple Place avenue all the way back home Before exercises ending New Year's Day 1917 these troops again took part in parade but this time bypassed downtown going straight uptown past City Hall then turned east onto Temple Place avenue allthe way back home formed up outside old city hall while Mayor Hahn delivered his address After exercises ended new year's day 1918 these troops once again marched though downtown twice without passing through city hall Then turned east onto Temple PLACE avenue alltheway back home relieved by tanks coming down 4th street

The mission was destroyed by fire on November 17, 1824; its remains still stand today at East Temple Street and East Alameda Street. Englishman William Wells became the licensee of Mission San Gabriel Arcángel on February 14, 1826 under the name "Fresno." A year later Mexican soldiers burned down Wells' building—the only structure built in what is now Pasadena—in revenge for his aid to American forces during the Mexican–American War. In 1828 John Sutter founded La Cañada Flintridge Colony near Glen Rose Avenue and El Monte Boulevard; this colony was abandoned two years later due to competition from John Sutter's Rancho Santa Anita ranch further south. The first post office opened in 1909; it was moved to its current location at North 6th Street and Vine Avenue in 1912. The creek that flows through downtown Pasadena (Alamo Creek) became known as Waverly Place after one of its early settlers, Nathaniel Waverly (1796–1872). Pasadena's rich history begins with its incorporation as a town on July 29, 1886. The Guards were formed to provide security for the President and cabinet members during peacetime and wartime. In 1861, the number of guards increased as both the Confederate and Union armies were fighting for control of Kentucky and Tennessee. The first regular unit called into service by Congress was companies A, B, C & D from New York City on April 12, 1861. On July 15th, 1861 these same units were transferred to Fortress Monroe in Virginia for duty with the Confederate army. These men served until September 3rd when they were mustered out at Appomattox Court House. They returned home to their old posts on October 16th after being discharged under the terms of the Treaty of Peace Between the United States and Confederate States (1865). After Reconstruction ended in 1877 there was an overall reduction in guard forces due to budget cuts but this didn’t stop special units such as cavalry or artillery from being raised throughout America until World War II (1918-1945) when they became permanent military elements within all branches of government
