It is the second most populous city in Los Angeles after Los Angeles City and it was founded on November 4, 1871, by Isabella Bird Wright. The city has a population of 881,639 as of 2017. Pasadena is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Southern California and one of the oldest cities east of the Mississippi River. The area now known as Pasadena was inhabited by the Tongva people before they were replaced by the Mexican-AmericanCalifornian community during the late 19th century. In 1848, following Mexican annexation of California, San Antonio de Padua became Mexico's new capital and Pasadena was annexed to San Antonio. Within Mexican territory at this time there were no incorporated municipalities; all land that lay beyond Fresno County had been granted automatically to Mexico for its residents without any regard to local governments or US voided treaties. When Texas joined United States in 1846, all land south of Houston except for part of what is now Pasadena was included within Texas. As part as part of his efforts to have Houston annexed into Texas along with Galveston and Austin, Santa Fe Railway president James Hogg purchased property east of Arroyo Seco for $5 per acre (2/3 mile). On May 20, 1847 Hogg filed a application with US Army Colonel John Crain to establish a military post at Arroyo Seco due to recent discoveries made near where it would later be built – including an oil well on March 26, 1847! This application was accepted and upon completion of construction General Dodge designated April 15th as day binding both Texas and America together in recognizing Californias independent status under Spanish rule The first settlers arrived via wagon train from New Mexico around October 1787: 160 families led by José Joaquín Mora Landívar y Valdés founded Rancho San Rafael de Nuestra Señora del Carmelo (now known as East Palo Alto) on land that still includes parts of Pasadena. The Mora brothers also acquired additional Ranchos Santa Ysabel (west side), Rinconada (north side), La Brea Tar Pits (south side), Canoga Park (east side), Friar Park (west side) and Montrose Heights (westside). aggrandise supplies were bought from Mexicans living near Mission Dolores prior to its conversion into a mission in 1834 In1871 when American Andrew White came through southern California he foundxfoothill Sheep Dog Paths Valley watered only by rain water coming down off mountainside which continued until 1912 when Aliso Canyon Dam was completed there water stopped flowing

Pasadena, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. Pasadena was incorporated on November 3, 1879. It is located in the southeastern corner of Los Angeles County and is bordered by Westchester County to the south, Yorba Linda County to the east, Carson City to the north and San Gabriel Valley to the west. The population was 126,569 at the 2010 census. Pasadena is home to UCLA campus and many other high-end schools as well as numerous churches and mosques. The area that now makes up Pasadena was first inhabited by Mono people who hunted big game in what is now downtown Los Angeles. In 1887, two men from Santa Clara County named John Sutter and James Irvine bought 1/8 mile of land in what is now Pasadena for $1 per acre. They began developing it into a town with sawmills, lumberyards, cattle ranches and homes for themselves and their families. In 1902 they sold their holdings to Jerald Peele for $325 an acre. Peele allowed white residents only while he developed it into a black community so that African Americans could have access to education, housing and business opportunities that were not available elsewhere in northern Los Angeles at this time
Pasadena, California was founded in 1871 by James H. Shields and is the oldest city in San Bernardino County. The population of Pasadena grew from about 30,000 in 1850 to over 350,000 by 1860. In 1876, Pasadena was annexed by San Bernardino County and became a part of the new county. The growth of the city led to the construction of many buildings that still stand today such as City Hall and Pershing Square. The city's annexation led to its incorporation into state government as a municipality on February 17, 1907. On November 3, 1912, Pasadena voters ratified an ordinance creating a school district serving all of Pasadena and portions of San Marino Township which included present-day Radnor Heights. The first school opened in 1913 at what is now Flower Street and Eastern Avenue
