Patterson is a small town in the Central Valley of California, about an hour and a half east of Sacramento. It was founded in 1892 by Mormon settlers, and has since been one of the most important agricultural towns in the area. Air force bases are located here, including Davis-Monthan AFB, which is home to the KC-135 Stratotanker; Goldwater AF; and Clovis AFB. The USAF began providing gifts to Patterson residents in 1932. At that time, they donated radios, books on aviation, tools for agriculture, shoes and clothing. The gift tradition continued until 1984 when the USAF conducted a donation drive to support military operations in Nicaragua. In that year, air force personnel from several bases participated in a photo session for tracts of Rancho San Lorenzo near Patterson. A plaque recognizing this event was dedicated at Davis-Monthan AFB on October 17th 2009 by Colonel Rick Majewski (Ret). Today, the USAF continues to give back to Patterson through various initiatives such as its annual Christmas party for local children living below poverty lines; programs that help battered women and their families; and donations of equipment or materials used by members of the military stationed here or used locally throughout California during peacetime.

Patterson is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,564 at the 2010 census. Patterson is named after American author and journalist William Makepeace Thackeray. Patterson was founded in 1887 by John C. Patterson and his brother Wm. H. Patterson as a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route from Sacramento to Nevada City. The town became an agricultural center with dairy and cattle operations, as well as cotton plantations until the early 20th century when oil production began to increase in Kern County and other parts of California. In 1941, Patterson was incorporated as a town under the name of "Pine Valley". It lost its status as an incorporated community after it merged with neighboring towns of Happy Valley and Blytheville in 1957 to form the current city of Patterson. The first post office in Patterson was established in 1887; it moved to its present location near what is now downtown in 1907. The first store opened there in 1903; that store closed circa 1937 because of competition from local stores owned by ranchers who had begun leasing land for oil operations around that time. A new store opened in 1945 on Main Street which remains open today as the only commercial business remaining within the city limits since then (the original building has been destroyed). In 1957, Pine Valley annexed adjacent towns of Happy Valley and Blytheville; this annexation removed most commerce from those communities so their populations slumped over time due to lack of access to resources essential for economic development such as businesses or transportation infrastructure necessary for interstate trade or shopping opportunities outside these surrounding villages/towns: this decline accelerated following World War II when industries shifted away from agriculture towardsdefense-related manufacturing jobs throughout most of California; however, some rural residents did reestablished farming activities followingthe war using acreage that had been leased back from government agencies such as irrigation districts administered by former farmers during wartime years In recent decades, efforts have been made by Mayor Stacey Gorman (D)to revitalize downtown Patterson through murals., refurbishmentof historic buildings including several churches,,and plans for increased nightlife activity which would include events like music festivals,,an annual parade,,and more social services available 24/7
