The United States Air Force has a long and colourful history in Perris, California. The base was founded in 1942 as the Second Air Force Station, and served as an airfield for fighter pilots during World War II. It later became the home of the Ninth Air Force during the Cold War. Today, the USAF operates two USAF stations in Perris – Beechcraft AFB and Luke AFB – and oversees more than 100 000 military personnel worldwide. In 1944, General Dwight Eisenhower designated Perris as the new home of Eighth Air Forces, which would become known as Tactical Air Command (TAC). At that time, TAC was responsible for all combat operations against ground targets throughout North America. In 1948, TAC moved its headquarters from Oklahoma City to Perris following the war's end. In 1961, TAC was renamed Aerospace Defense Command (ADC) after ADC took over most of USAAF functions at bases around the country. ADC is responsible for providing missile defence systems and airspace security across America. The unit also maintains a large hangar complex at Beechcraft AFB in Perris – one of only two such complexes within ADC jurisdiction. Since its inception in 1961, ADC has awarded over $50 million in grants to local organisations across California focused on community development or aerospace research and development initiatives. These grants have helped make Perris a vibrant community with strong ties to both Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT). Many businesses located within walking distance of ADC have been significantly impacted by their relationship with AEG or Lockheed Martin; this includes numerous small-business owners who build their businesses around military technology or aircraftrelated products.

In 1984, Major General Carl Eikenberry donated a unit of the California Army National Guard to serve at Perris AFB. Perris, California is a census-designated place in Kern County, California. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Joaquin River. The town of Perris was founded in 1885 by A.W. Ferguson and J.D. Godfrey as a small community near John Day Lake. The name comes from Spanish "perrí" meaning "river bed". The post office opened in 1886 and remained open until 1943 when it became part of the Perris Unified School District. In 1911, Phebe Haggerty donated land to the town for a public school system which eventually became known as Perris High School (now Perri High School). In 1944, the United States Army Corps of Engineers built Fort Ord Park to protect the San Joaquin River from being used as an oil pipeline route and to provide recreational opportunities for local residents and soldiers stationed at nearby Camp Pendleton during World War II In 1957, perry high school purchased land adjacent to present day Donner Pass Road east of town from Soquel Naval Air Station for use as their high school football campus; Donner Pass Road would become home to both Perry High School and later Community College District #4 after that institution moved into its current location next door in 1984 There has been significant growth within the boundaries of Perris – primarily due to Interstate 5 – with new subdivisions popping up all around town since 1990: Willowbrook Village (to the north), Aguirre Ranch subdivision (to the east), Indian Wells subdivision (to the south) and finally Desert View Estates development just outside of town limits in 2006/2007 satellite photos can be seen (shown): Perry's annexation by West Valley City led then-Mayor Donald Giannini to call a special meeting on November 3rd 2006 where annexation requests were considered; ultimately no decision was made because West Valley City had not annexed any other incorporated municipalities since 1989 . Upon further review it was determined that annexation requests were only made when there were specific concerns about how future growth would impact certain areas within existing towns or villages such as Downtown Perris or some parts of Willowbrook Village .[1][2] As such, despite claims by Mayor Giannini that annexation would lead to more job creation within city limits,[3] no new jobs have resulted from this policy change thus far
