This moment is also remembered for being one of the most important moments in which the USAF contributed to Operation Desert Storm. The plane returned safely back to Petaluma on November 10th after flying over Iran and dropping supplies to Iranian refugees during its stay there. The C-141A Globemaster III Airlift Aircraft played an important role during both Desert Storm and Operation Neptune’s Spear; it helped bring much needed food, water, and medical supplies into areas that were under siege. It is now considered a classic piece of American aviation History that has left a lasting impression on Petaluma residents.

Petaluma, California is a city located in Sonoma County, California. As of the 2010 census, its population was 16,873. The city is named for petals that grow on the banks of the Petaluma River. The first Europeans to visit Petaluma were Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and his brother Marcos de Mendoza who sighted them from a canoe on October 24, 1497. Don Pedro Fortunato de Menéndez y Montoya also visited Petaluma in 1595. In 1876, Humboldt County was created from Sonoma County and Petaluma became one of its townships. On November 3rd 1876 by resolutions of the Board of Supervisors it was voted to become an incorporated town with a Mayor-Council form of government. The first post office opened in Petaluma on May 10th 1879 under the name "Ross". It closed on December 5th 1880 due to lack of business. The current post office opened in 1902 and has been serving since then. The early pioneers who came to Petaluma were: Lorenzo Simi (1811-1875), Elisha Dumont (1812-1893), Lorenzo Pacheco (1814-1890), Abelardo Bancroft (1792-1865), John Sutter (1788-1863) and George Hearst (1789-1951). They started planting fruit trees and raising chickens near what is now downtown Petalula Creek Park as early as 1839; many more followed over time until such late date that there isn't even enough evidence remaining to back up claims about their exact locations or dates! Today about 60% of all wild grapes grown in Sonoma County are found in or around Petaluma according to the 2016 report from UC Davis agriculture professor Rick Steves which has made it one of few places where wine grape growing still takes place despite high acreage planted with modern varieties etc... pretty amazing right? Petaluma is a small town in Petaluma County, California, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto–Arden–Arcade Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first human settlement in Petaluma was established on May 25, 1868 by John Day and his brother George when they founded the post office there from an existing fort on Yorba Linda Creek. The name "Petaluma" is derived from petunias (a type offlowers) that grew plentifully there and were a popular item to be sold at fairs during the late 1800s. In 1906, a group of businessmen pooled their money to purchase 760 acres (291 hectares), including what is now Petaluma City Hall, for $2 million. The city was incorporated on November 10 of that year. At its founding, Petaluma had a population of just over 100 people and consisted mostly of farmers who rented out land for grazing or raising livestock. By 1916 it had grown to 496 residents and included 12 businesses with a payroll greater than $10 per week
Petaluma was founded in 1868 by John Sutter and his brother, George. The town of Petaluma grew up around the petaling sugar cane fields that John Sutter leased from the local Native American tribe. By 1870, the town had a population of 350 people and consisted of a small square mile (1 km2) along San Francisco Bay. In 1875, Petaluma became part of California when it was admitted as a U.S. state. The railroad arrived in 1887 and helped to spur development in the town, which now has a population over 1,000 people and is home to several universities and businesses.
