Airforce gifts have been a part of the culture in Pinole, California for over 40 years. The Air Force is one of the most important institutions in our community and its Gifts to Our Community program helps make a difference. The Air Force has donated many items and services to Pinole, including: training equipment, vehicles, clothing and more. In 1969, when Pinole's first high school was opened, the Air Force donated a bicycle for the students to use. Since then, they have donated countless items that have helped improve life in our community. Some of the most memorable donations from the Air Force include an airplane hangar in 1984 which was used as a gymnasium; an air defense radar station on FM 9063 in 1992; and an aircraft hangar on FM 1292 which was used as a library in 2001. In 2007, we were lucky enough to receive an additional gift- an F-15 Eagle fighter jet! This donation makes us even more proud to be able to serve ourcommunity with such distinction.

The USAF has made many contributions to American society through its service members and civilians who have worked within its framework. Many people credit John F Kennedy with creating America's first national security strategy that included air power as one key component. He believed that America could secure its borders by relying on aerial bombardment instead of land-based troops

Pinole, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California. It is located in San Luis Obispo County and has a population of around 508 as of 2016. The name comes from the Spanish words "Pinole" meaning "peninsula." The town was founded by Spaniards in 1834. The Pinole Peninsula extends for about 20 miles (32 km) into San Luis Obispo County, with a width of about 2 1/2 miles (3 km). The peninsula is made up of sandstone and limestone hills that are surrounded by valleys and canyons. There are several small lakes and ponds within the peninsula, including pinole Creek, which flows southwest to north-northwest. The towns on or near the Peninsula include: Pinole, Paso Robles, Carmel Valley, Arroyo Seco Junction, Happy Valley, Wintersville and North Beach. The climate in Pinole is Mediterranean with warm summers and cold winters; average monthly temperatures range from 21 to 27 degrees Celsius (68 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit). Most precipitation falls during summer thunderstorms; however winter totals are also considerable with an average annual snowfall of about 2 feet (60 cm). Pinole is a town in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 31,912 at the 2010 census. It is Cache Valley's second-largest city after Arroyo Grande. The region now known as Pinole was first inhabited by the Ohlone people and then the Miwok people. The Mission San Francisco de Asís was founded in 1776 on the site of what is today's Pinole. In 1821, Rancho San Miguel los Olivos was sold to John Sutter for $5,000. He named it "San Tomas de la Cruz". In 1846, Los Angeles County was created from part of San Miguel County. After years of struggles with sparsely populated areas and lack of water resources, rancho owners began appropriating water rights from local springs in an attempt to make a fortune farming crops such as grapes and cotton. These efforts led to heavy flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses in the towns around Paso Robles Creek; most notably Atascadero (now Redondo Beach). In 1872, about 50% of all fruit grown in Southern California were produced at various Missions near Monterey Bay; this included pinot noir grapes from Yuma County along with many other items like figs and olives that eventually became popular exports across America because they could be transported without refrigeration or spoilage. One result of these floods were changes in topography which made it difficult for farmers to keep up with new irrigation techniques so they turned to artificial lakes fed by underground wells as well as canals dug through hillsideside soils Assumption Lake formed when groundwater pooled beneath an opencast gold mine operated by Sylvester Clifford Phelps & Co.. This strategy worked until 1906 when control over Assumption Lake passed from Phelps & Company to Union Water Service due to their investments in Canoga Park golf course development there. pinole map
