Pittsburg is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. Pittsburg has a history dating back to 1853 when it was known as "Saddleback". The name comes from the Saddleback Mountains and is pronounced "Pit-tswit-gah". The town's current name honors General George Washington Carver who donated land to the city in 1917. Pittsburg was incorporated as a city on December 3, 1923. In November 2009, the City of Pittsburg voted to annex part of Riverside County which had been vacant for years. In February 1912, Father Edward J. Flynn established Sacred Heart Parish in what is now Pittsburg and founded the first Catholic school in San Bernardino County. On September 12, 1916, John Coyle purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) northeast of present day downtown Pittsburg from Grant Waddell for $5,000 cash and donated it as an agricultural land donation to the Sisters of Mercy. It took until 1927 before any construction began on what would become Sacred Heart Academy; however, school started in 1929 with thirty students after fundraising efforts by nuns and local citizens led by Our Lady of Peace parishioner Mother Angelica Sweeny McAfee RNGS/. On July 5th 1928 (the Feast of Stations), Bishop James Fenton consecrated Notre Dame High School located on blocks A-D north west side of Main Street across from Holy Cross Church as a new religious high school for girls only under the jurisdiction of Loretto Abbey Convent/Church Foundation sisters operating out of Loretto Abbey convent adjacent property adjoining Nob Hill Cemetery site - making this one sister high school among many schools/universities operated or supported by Loretto Abbey Convent/Church Foundation Religious Order based at Loretto Abbey convent opposite Nob Hill Cemetery Site - also calledHoly Cross High School today! On May 15th 1951 Pope Pius XII signed into law "The Bull on Religious Education" which granted all Catholics within United States Free religious education up to age 17 provided they attend parochial schools affiliated with their own religious order or congregation whose members were bona fide parents providing their children attended religious edification classes meeting approved curriculum subject areas including moral instruction skills training excellent public speaking ability etc., This opened up much opportunity for kids like me who could not only go to church but learn about God through classic texts such as Bible stories & prayers along with valuable social studies skills necessary for life outside home especially if we wanted to get an education like most Americans did then !

Pittsburg, California is a small town in Kern County,California, United States. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census. Pittsburg is located on the Kern River east of Bakersfield. It is part of the Bakersfield–Merced Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Pittsburg was J.J. Harper who arrived in 1868 and named it after his hometown of Pittsford, New York. Other early settlers included Wm Fenton and Mose Gooding who each brought a family to live in what is now Pittsburg they founded an agricultural community that prospered until the late 1800s when many residents turned to mining operations due to significant gold discoveries near their location. In 1892 Simeon Fuller donated land for a public school district which served as the nucleus for present day Pittsburg School District #2 which encompasses all of Kern County including portions of Bakersfield and Merced Counties as well as parts of Mono and Tulare Counties outside of Los Angeles County. In 1906 a post office called "Pittsburg" was established by Ladd & Company (Ladd's Land Co.) under arrangements made with Southern Pacific Railroad company president George Stephenson Cranchwood on lands donated by Fuller and others near what is now downtown Pittsburg). The company operated from its original quarters on Main Street between 6th & 7th Streets until 1912 when it moved to 4th Street NW where it remains today under the name Ladd's Land Company Post Office Museum which offers exhibits about postal history including correspondence between Stephenson Cranchwood and various mail carriers during their careers. In 1930 Johnnie Weldon purchased some land north of downtownPittsburgh from Ladd's Land Company post office museum resulting in what is today Weldon Park across from Downtown Pittsburgh also known as "Weldon Valley". Weldon Park became part of City Limits Neighborhood Council before being annexed into the city limits municipality in 1959 following approval by voters via special election held that year along with other adjacent properties within City Limits including Sawtelle Boulevard & Eastside Avenue property annexation creating the current boundaries for Pittsburg which encompass most or all of areas within City Limits except Sawtelle Boulevard & Eastside Avenue itself currently unincorporated area subject to future annexation by either city or municipality if approved by voters at upcoming special elections .
