Placentia is a small city located in Placer County, California. The population was 16,903 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in California by population and the second-smallest city in Nevada. There are three other small cities located within 1 million of Placentia: rackley, Auburn and Rocklin. The City of Placentia was founded on November 3, 1859 by Dr. George Hildebrandt as a farming community on Rancho Los Nietos south of Sacramento. The town became an independent municipality on July 11, 1872 when it joined the then-new county of Sacramento from parts of Colusa and Sutter counties. In 1912, Placentia annexed part of the unincorporated community of Dixon to its north for economic reasons after those residents voted not to secede from the city Limits Council 5–2%. On December 12, 1907 a fire destroyed most of downtown Placentia with $5,000 in damage done to businesses alone; however $19,000 was raised to rebuild within two months thanks largely to donations from businesses and citizens alike. By 1915 downtown had been rebuilt again but many homes were still destroyed when another major fire burned down part of town on May 15th that year which also caused extensive rebuilding including new churches and schools being built throughout downtown (though some original structures remain). In 1929 there were only 7 residents living in what is now called "Downtown" while over 50 businesses dotted various blocks around what is now known as "Old Downtown". Businesses expanded rapidly during World War II due to military activity occurring nearby such as airfields and munitions plants which resulted in increased demand for goods and services available inside or outside Plattersville; this growth led to more jobs than ever before becoming available for people who desired them but also created problems such as traffic congestion often leading to gridlock near busy streetscapes like State Street or Elmira Avenue where large numbers parked their cars overnight unable get out without getting towed or fined thereby costing business owners dearly especially if they did not have overflow parking facilities like many fast food restaurants do today! It wasn't until started efforts spearheaded by Mayor Bob Brown starting about 1967/68 targeting early childhood development programs specifically within neighborhoods adjacent thereto with vacant lots issue & subsidies being given along with street improvements (including widening Elmira Avenue) that Downtown finally saw some retail revival with new stores popping up all over even lining State Street just east Of Main Street (& prior thereto Commercial Row), creating limited public transportation options into Downtown plenitude except buses running between North Capitol Ave., North Seventh St./Upper America Rd., (now Interstate 5), Uptown Plaza [ later known as Town Center] & Crystal City [later known as South Gate Mall], yet much noise pollution resultant !! continuing through current day !! incidents causing inconvenience daily despite recent sidewalk repairs

Placentia, California is a town located in Placer County, California, United States. The population was 1,524 at the 2010 census.
The first permanent settler in Placentia was John C. Fremont in 1851. The town was founded on November 17, 1875 by Jabez Price and Wm Fenton Codman as part of Rancho San Francisco de Asís grant to Jedediah Smith and his party of nine men from Astoria, Oregon. In 1876 the town name was changed to "Placentia" after Queen Victoria's bicentenary anniversary and because of its location on State Route 40 (formerly US 99), which ran through the area at that time.
On July 10, 1888, Placentia became a city with a petition by Mayor James Hargrave submitted to the Board of Supervisors. On January 6, 1889 it passed a charter amendment granted by Governor Wm M. Hastings providing for an elected commission to manage all activities within the city limits including elections and fire protection services; however this authority never materialized due to opposition from neighboring towns which saw their own charters being revoked or amended without their consent).
In 1906 there were reports of “angel” lights located in northeastern Point Reyes National Seashore near where Placentia would later be located; these lights were believed to be emanating from the remains of an extraterrestrial spacecraft discovered by two U-2 pilots during their original flights over Northern California during Operation Neptune's Spear era investigations into UFOs activity back then known as Project Blue Book (later renamed SPYgate). On October 1st 1898 citizens voted 7-1 in favor of passage of Proposition 8 making Placentia an independent city governed by a mayor/council government with equal representation for all races underwritten by state sharers instead of property owners only who had long been controlling civic life within its borders...thus beginning what would become one continuous history lesson for residents hereabouts!
In 1986 polling showed that moderate Republican incumbent Mayor Arturo Carmona had lost re-election against Democrat Lorenzo Sanchez but no vote could be taken because no ballots had been received in time for certification due to local holiday rush weekend regulations... thus ending any hopes anyone may have had towards electing either candidate running unopposed!

The area around Placentia, California was first inhabited by the Tongva people. The Spanish claimed the region in 1769 and built Mission San Gabriel Arcangel in 1821. Rancho Santa Margarita was granted to Juan Ponce de León in 1834. In 1854, the town of Placentia was founded and named after Santa Margarita. The placer gold Rush began in 1855 and ended in 1861 when most of the gold had been mined.
