In 1860, Deputy Sheriff James Hickey gifted a revolver to the townspeople in appreciation for their support of the department. Placentia, California is a small city in the state of California. It is located about 30 miles (48 km) north of Los Angeles and about 25 miles (40 km) east of San Diego. As of the 2010 census, Placentia had a population of 7,844. The name "Placentia" was derived from the Latin word "paedalus," meaning "playful." The first people to live in what is now Placentia were the Tongva Indians. They built their village on an island in present-day downtown Placentia. In 1821, Mexican soldiers burned down the Tongva village and replaced it with a fortification named Fort Point San Pablo. In 1846, California became part of the United States after Mexico ceded its southern border to America. The town started growing quickly because many American settlers decided to move to California because it was free and Salinas Creek was rich in goldmining resources. By 1849, most of what is now Placentia had been developed as a farming community with few buildings other than some farmsteads and schoolhouses. A post office called Fort Point San Pablo opened in 1850, but it did not become very successful because there were no mailboats available to reach it from inland towns such as Sacramento or Stockton. In 1858, Colonel George Patton founded Camp Pendleton on land that later became Placentia beachhead during World War II. The town grew rapidly when military jobs opened up for local residents at nearby naval bases like Coronado Naval Air Station and El Toro Marine Corps Base during World War II and 1950s alike. At one point there were more than 10,000 people living in downtown Placentia alone between 1945 and 1955; however today only a few hundred remain within walking distance of their homes or businesses which have all grown larger since then due to suburban development around them along Salinas Creek waterfront energy facilities petrochemical plants chemical refineries manufacturing plants agricultural production farms service stations convenience stores general stores supermarkets

Placentia, California is a city located in Northern California. It was founded by the Spanish in 1821 on the present-day site of what is now downtown Placentia. The original town was named San Gabriel after the Archangel Gabriel. In 1846, it became part of Rancho Tejon and then, in 1861, of Rancho Santa Margarita. In 1893, it became a city when incorporation granted by the state of California. The population as of 2010 was 34,853. The first Europeans to visit what is now Placentia were members ofCaptain Farias's expedition from Baja California who sighted land to the north on February 14th 1769 AD while sailing along the coast of San Francisco Bay. Two days later they landed at Point Arena on shoreline belonging to Juan Rodríguez de Monterey (Father) and Pedro Menéndez de Avila (Brother). Captain Farias's party Included Essequibo Indian man Manuel Nieto as interpreter and he soon realized that this new land had potential for development because it offered excellent harvests of wild grapes which could be processed into wine. The Townsite In 1821, Captain José Narvaez y Gasset discovered gold fields near Placervillealong with his brother Fernando Narvaez y Gasset who together organized an expedition led by Joaquín Crespí to explore these lands in search for other diggings but no findings were made until 1825 when José Narvaez also found gold near Atascosa Creek about 10 miles east from where Placentia would later be located. This discovery increased interest in this area so much so that twenty two rigs were set up for searching for gold over a period of six months starting December 21st 1825 including one mounted on a mule called Diablo which made local history as never before! That same year Rancho Tejon was acquired by Santiago Martinez y Soto from Jesús Valdés who also owned part of Las Vegas Valley including Mojave Desert Park today’s Carson City Nevada Territory southward to Coyote Wells Road eastward to Umatilla River junctionnear modern day Needles Arizona Territory westward all within Mexican territory at that time although some claim its ownership goes back further still as far back as 1776 when Pájaro Rojo explored these areas under Spanish rule! Mining began quickly with three companies beginning operations January 1st 1830 consisting Messrs Tomkins & Sons (owner: John Latham), Noyes Bros Mines Company (owner: Amos Norton) and Haggerty Brothers Mines Company (owner: George Haggerty). By 1840 production had become so great that James Waddell purchased all shares in Messrs Tomkins & Sons leaving only JW Richardson still operating today! From here things went downhill rapidly due mainly to overproduction caused by greed rather than intelligent exploration or mining strategies being put into place! ad infinitum!! Although production stopped during the Panic Of 1847 many people continued looking for gold even though prices plummeted making it difficult if not impossible to make a living off those discoveries! When news reached Mexico about such activity American citizens started flowing into Mexico seeking citizenship rather than face possible deportation back home!!! Consequently most mines closed down during this time making it difficult if not impossible for anyone actually interested in mining these riches given import tariffs at that time !! Although claims have been made recently there are currently multiple attempts underway both large and small amounting collectively estimated value between $10 billion-$30 billion just missing out on huge profits primarily because damned lawyers will always stop anything less than perfection!!
The town of Placentia was founded in 1849 by the brothers Isaac and Solomon Pope. The town quickly became a center for citrus production, and by 1865 it had two stores, four churches, and 30 residents. In 1870, the Pope family donated land to create a city park, which remains in use today. The city's first mayor was Lorenzo Dowdell.
