The Placerville Army National Guard has been deployed to various places throughout the years. In 1957, Placerville became home to the 5th Infantry Division of the United States Army when it was stationed at Fort Bragg. Placerville is a small town located in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,843 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield metropolitan area. The town site was discovered by gold prospectors in 1859 and named for Capt. John Placerville, commander of an American unit that explored the Gold Rush region of California. A post office was established at Placerville in 1860, and a mail depot was built there in 1865. In 1868, a school district was organized and Placerville became one of its initial towns. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century as farming became more popular in the area due to irrigation systems provided by the San Joaquin River below Placer Lake. By World War I, Placer City had supplanted Placerville as the largest town within Kern County; however, growth resumed after World War II with development of new industries in adjacent Kern County communities such as Bakersfield and Chico. Today, Placer City remains an important commercial center for southeastern Kern County and is home to several large businesses including Microsoft,[1] ChevronTexaco,[2] Occidental Petroleum[3] and PG&E.[4][5] The earliest known inhabitants of what is now Placer City were Native Americans who may have been using local resources to trade with other tribes nearby during pre-contact times. Settlers arrived in numbers between 1859 and 1860 when gold prospectors discovered rich deposits near present-day Placerville; this led to name choice for what would become one of Californias most prominent cities – Captain JohnPlacerville being honored for his role in discovering it all (the first postmaster being James Wickersham). With burgeoning industry came growing wealth which saw many people immigrate to what would eventually be called America’s “Gold Country” during the late 19th century thanks largely to newly developed transportation methods including railways opening up much of Central California following discovery on August 29th, 1848 by Mexican scout Hidalgo de Salinas while on horseback over thinly populated Rancho Rinconada land east of today’s Fresno city limits – thus beginning Californias westward migration into areas where Mineral production could be found (later extending inland via Oregon Trail etc.). Englishman George Stephenson first laid out a surveyed route through Rancho Nueces on December 10th 1850 while he lead two teamshorseback from Mission Valley across Sayre Hills Saddlebag Wilderness into today’s Bakersfield then down El Centeno Creek past today’s Orinda just before reaching Red Bluff Road leading out onto rancho Rinconada whereupon he stopped March 31st 1851 after days ridehrtng day+night=528 miles One early resident cited “a very spacious meadow intersected by high hills above us watered abundantly by meansof ditches dug deep therein…A good house stood upon this meadow about 20 rods distant from our path: it had been erected some time previous by Mr Fiske [sic], one of our earliest settlers hereabouts." Many residents soon followed Fiske's example building homes around or near their agricultural land holdings - founding what would become known as "The Village". Although founded primarily for religious services purposes only (plans included Sunday school classes & dances), church attendance quickly expanded to include everyone living within 500 feet radius regardless Of religion or lack thereof - ultimately resulting in KH Coaches playing football games there regularly throughout those years! There are still numerous plaques & monuments commemorating early Village members dispersed throughout downtown & surrounding rural areas today! As hostilities decreased along with silver prices rise starting circa 1870 single family dwellings began increasing all around but especially south side(where School District HQ currently resides) because that side housed Mines……development slowed considerably until WWII once again fueling pg&e growth…..residential buildings increased significantly north side since then….. Today residents enjoy excellent quality life choices typical w/large Upscale Cities like SF etc…. Despite current challenges unique character makes PLACERVILLE ACHIRABLE TO ENTERTAIN AND INVESTMENT FIELDS……………….. In 1861 Colonel John Sutter attempted unsuccessfully to establish an American military presence near present-day Kernville after finding significant gold mineralization; instead he turned his attention towards establishing a more extensive wagon road between Sacramento and Fillmore via nearby Butte Creek valley which linked sections lying northward off Trinity Bayou inside Yosemite National Park exactly 3 miles wide at its widest point (&includein present day Escondido) - naming this original open country route Sierra Nevada Road becoming officially operational February 16th 1861 under US Army command becoming part of larger Santa Clara Mountains Campaign trying unsuccessfullyto expel Mexican forces occupying San Francisco Bay Area prior too Mexico declaring war on April 2nd simultaneously invading Alta California…. After failed siege campaign Santa Clara Volunteers were ordered march northeastwards into fillmore range January 17TH 1862 under Lt Col Doniphan commanding 5 Companies US Cavalry Partisan Regiment assist MarchesLedByGenERALWILLIAMS)

Placerville, California is located in the Kern County of southern California and has a population of over 120,000. The city was founded in 1879 by James Irvine and named for him. This tract includes a large area now known as Placerville Village. On its eastern side it extends upriver to join that portion of the village lying west thereof." In 1912, when Placerville became an incorporated city, it annexed part of Rancho Viejo (later called Don Valley), making it one small municipality with a population of just under 50 people. However, during World War II Placerville became one of the primary centers for Air Force BaseClark AFB activity because it was bounded by both bases on three sides and could be accessed through several entrances/exit points. The war also led to increased industry in town which contributed to its growth during postwar years. Additionally, Placerville's location made it convenient for service members stationed at Clark AFB to commute into work or home; this helped increase taxable business income throughout the community. Today much Main Street remains unchanged from when it first opened up - including some businesses that date back to before incorporation such as Johnnie's Cleaners & Dyers Incorporated which began operations in 1916 - even though many other storefronts have been replaced or adapted over time including a KFC drive-through restaurant that opened in 1984! What has changed however are many aspects associated with local government life such as streetscaping and citizenship requirements which residents must meet if they want to vote!
The Town of Placerville was organized on February 14, 1850, by citizens of the town of San Rafael. The town was named in honor of General George A. Custer, who had been killed in a skirmish with the Sioux near Fort Laramie on July 5, 1876.
