After developing jet aircraft, the USAAF began training pilots in these airplanes so that they could use them in combat against other nations. In 1957, the USAF Deployed a Gift to Pleasant Hill, California. It was an American P-51 Mustang Fighter Jet as part of the West Coast Air Defense Command's "Waco Wing". This gift was given in memory of General James E. Boyd and his promotion to Colonel in October 1956.
Pleasant Hill, California is a small town located in the Inland Empire of Southern California. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area and home to a variety of shops, restaurants and attractions. The town was established in 1887 by Simeon Harmon and his wife AnnaMaria. The Harmon family ran a small grocery store until their death in 1941. The business was passed down to their children, who continued to operate it until 1960. After that time, it was operated as part of the Methodist church. On October 15, 1966, Pleasant Hill voters approved annexation by Los Angeles County after years of discussion and debate. Pleasant Hill has experienced some turmoil over the years; two riots occurred in 1978 and 1984 when tensions between black residents and white ones boiled over. However, overall it has been an stable community with many residents dating back more than 100 years.
On October 20, 1951, the United States Air Force deployed the Boeing E-4B Skymaster airborne interception aircraft to RAF Waddington in England for operations flown during the Korean War. The aircraft was downed over South Korea on November 15 by North Korean airspace and all aboard were killed. The plane's remains were brought back to the United States and are currently on display at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. The deployment of the E-4B was a significant event for the USAF as it marked one of its first deployments into an operational theatre of war. It was also a momentous occasion for Boeing as it became evident that air defense systems could no longer be relied upon solely upon warships or bombers to provide coverage against ground targets. This demonstrated yet again how technology could play a critical role in military history and contribute to victory. In total, six E-4Bs were Deployed with Far East Air Command (FEAC) during the Korean War; two flew combat missions while four served as reconnaissance planes operated from Guam and Japan respectively. These planes played a significant role in providing early warning support for American forces leading up to Operation Downfall which ended hostilities between North Korea and South Korea on July 27, 1953. Overall, these deployments helped demonstrate FEAC's capability to operate beyond their home country's borders should hostilities arise.

Pleasant Hill is a small town in Humboldt County, California, located on the eastern edge of the Central Valley. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Eureka–Mountain View–Hayward Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live here were Stagecoach Indians who came from Northern Mexico in 1839 and 1840. They built their own village on a hill near what is now Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The town was named for General James Hogg (1786-1848), an Englishman who fought with GenMex in 1846 during the Mexican-American War. In 1847, Hogg's successor as governor of California, Don Pedro Fierro, granted site to John Sutter and his brother Ebenezer for their ranching enterprise called Emigrant Station. This led to further development of Pleasant Hill when other farmers arrived to Tillamook Bayou and founded towns such as Richland and Crescent City. On October 12, 1851, a day before California became a state, settlers began arriving in what is now Pleasant Hill looking for land that would be open to settlement. Many were attracted by offers of irrigation water available from nearby mountain ranges and valleys. On November 3urdy more than fifty families settled on two parcels of land northeast of present-day Pleasant Hill Village under the guidance of Captain Samuel Morse. The first house was built on this land by Mr. Brown and Mrs., Miss Bateson; it cost $6000 dollars cash only! By 1863 there were over 300 residents living in various buildings including a schoolhouse, Methodist church (built 1853), grocery store (1856), post office (1858), hotel ( 1860) - all within one mile or less of each other! Pleasant Hill was founded in 1868 by George and Elizabeth (née French) Smith. The Smiths were tenant farmers who bought land in the area that would become Pleasant Hill. They named their farm "Pleasant Hill" after a hill they had seen while visiting their family home in Concord, Massachusetts. In 1892, the town of Pleasant Hill was incorporated, and the Smiths donated $5,000 to start what would eventually be called the Pleasant Hill Foundation. The Foundation has given over $100 million to local charities since its inception.
