The earliest evidence of coffee consumption occurs in the form of an archaeological find that dates back to 10,000 BCE. Coffee was grown on estates during the colonial period in various parts of the world. By 1800, coffee had spread to England and Europe. In 1824, Dutch traders brought beans back to New York City from Holland. Coffee began being sold at auction in 1825. In 1886, American merchants started selling coffee direct to consumers in Chicago. This system allowed smaller businesses to purchase large quantities of coffee at one time which helped fuel America's first commercial industry. Although coffee is not a native plant to California, it was transported here with pioneers in search of new lands and opportunities. The history of fresh roasted coffee begins with the importation of wild beans from Spain in 1795. At that time, Spain controlled much of Latin America and was able to bring a high quality product into North America without having to go through regular customs inspections or paying duties onerous amounts。 Spanish farmers grew two types of beans: Sumatra and Java were used for blackstrap molasses while Pernambuco (present-day Brazil) yielded white beans that would be ground into flour for breadmaking purposes 、 These two varieties were called "Tobago"and "Cuba". After some research by Antonio Maceo de la Hoz y Ortigueira, who traveled through Spanish Honduras in 1694-95, he discovered that there were two different kinds of bean; one grown near Tegucigalpa called "Catán", which belonged to the Kingdom Of Guatemala; another strain belonging to Santo Domingo known as "Honduras Garzón" because it had been found near Tomanjá River where García de la Vega lived."Maceo discovered this difference while travelling between Mexico City (the capital), Tegucigalpa (the most important city), Quetzaltenango (a location near present day San Miguel de Allende), Socorro Island (near present day Ciudad Real), Zacatecas Province (in central Mexico) and Puerto Cabezas Bayou Saint Louis." Thus began what would eventually become known as espresso production when Angelo da Capello founded his own business producing fresh roasted coffees at his palazzo Vecchio di Pietralata on Via del Corso in 1568."He increased production starting from about fifteen ounces per year up until 1600 pounds/year). By 1600 however capello’s business had failed due either lack of demand or competition from other roasters operating outOf Rome)." Consequently , Italian immigrants took over production operations beginning around 1650 until the early 1800s when Mexican immigrants assumed control ."They continued manufacturing under three main categories: French Imports bearing Mimoza name; Spaniards making Honduran style burros with moved machinery made by Don Andrés Gomez Castilla; finally Italian immigrants using local methods such as water boiling followed by pressing type roasting.""It should be noted that although all three groups produced excellent cups throughout their history they shared one common denominator: They operated clandestinely." Pleasant Hill is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,759 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of Kern County and just east of Bakersfield. Pleasant Hill owes its name to Pleasant Valley Road which runs through the town center. In 1887, J.C. Penney opened a general store in what is now the downtown area and named it after his home valley in Scotland. The store continued to be open until 1951 when it closed due to the McCarthy-Marr fire that destroyed much of downtown Bakersfield. The business reopened as an automated teller machine (ATM) location before closing again in 1996. The first post office in Pleasant Hill was established on December 12, 1892, by Nellie Cushing with a mailing address of "Pleasant Valley". A new post office was built on Main Street in 1896 by James Wilshere with a mailing address of "Pleasant Valley". The first mail service to run out of Pleasant Hill was delivered by wagon from Bakersfield on July 15th, 1897 using horses and mules because there wasn't yet an ATMs available within the town limits. In 1907, Mayor Harry Sperling authorized the building of a two-story schoolhouse at 4200 E Muir Avenue for use as local high school classrooms during summer months when Bakersfield's only public school operated unaided from May through September due to lack of funding or space at nearby Little River Elementary School. When Hacienda High School opened for students Sophomore through Senior year beginning in 1949 all classes were moved into Hacienda's new Administration Building which had been constructed adjacent to Muir Ave., across from Pueblo Indian Reservation Headquarters which housed most of our adult population at that time including many families who had long resided within our borders since they were children member(s) or employees (some still are). Pleasant Hill is a small town located in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 3,371 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Walnut Creek Unified School District. The first settlers in Pleasant Hill were Scottish immigrants who arrived in 1851. They named their community after an estate in Scotland that they had seen on a visit to that country. The estate was later acquired by Captain John Sutter and his Party of California Pioneers, who named the settlement after him and his wife, Elizabeth Sutter. The first school in Pleasant Hill was built in 1857 and operated out of the home of Mrs. Arthur Haggerty. In 1865, a school house was built on what is now Raley Road and it served as the Town Hall until 1906 when it was replaced by a new courthouse building which remains today as the town hall annexe. In 1967, a new high school opened at what is now 501 N Main Street which became known as Pleasant Hill High School when Contra Costa County voters adopted Measure A (the agrarian education measure) which supported public schools within its boundaries instead of private schools outside them. In 1969, Pleasant Hill Elementary School moved to its present location on Orange Avenue just east of Interstate 80 from where it had been serving students since 1922 until 1971 when it amalgamated with nearby Westone Elementary School to form one large school system under the name Eastside Jr./Sr., subsequently renamed Hope Middle/High School before being merged again with Westone Middle/High Schools into one larger system under the name Pleasant Hill Unified School District in 2002 . In 2003-2004, due to budget cuts initiated by then Superintendent Driscoll, all elementary schools were closed except for Eastside Jr./Sr., Hope Middle/High Schools and two special classes – Mandarin Chinese and Japanese – for purposes of revamping curriculum for middle/high school students who would be going through transition into their second decade of life After years of study and thought process by educators throughout our district we have come up with an innovative plan that will allow these students to stay local while still receiving great instruction; this program will be called “PleasantHill STAR” or “Transitioning Students From Arranged Learning To attending Our Local Schools” currently we are working with our friends at Carver County Community College to adapt their online learning program so all these students can continue getting quality instruction while living close to home
Pleasant Hill is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It lies east of Bakersfield and north of Salinas. The first post office in Pleasant Hill was established in 1885. The name "Pleasant Hills" was given to the town by J. C. Hargrave, an early settler and rancher thereabouts. A railway line called the "Pleasant Valley Railway" ran through the town from 1907 to 1912, connecting it with Bakersfield and other cities in southern California; however, the line was abandoned after a derailment caused several injuries on one of its sections near downtown Pleasant Hill. In 1929, Pleasant Hill incorporated as a village; it adopted a form of government known as an “incorporation ordinance” that year under which village residents were elected officers and held only voting rights within their own Village boundaries rather than having full authority over all aspects of their lives outside those limits (i.e., they could not vote on issues affecting neighboring villages). In 1984, when statewide Proposition 13 took effect resulting in the loss of many local government functions – including incorporation – Pleasant Hill reverted back to its prior form as an unincorporated community with no voting power within its own borders. Since 2001, Mayor Donny Martinez has been working towards restoring some lost municipal services that had been discontinued due to budget cuts during his predecessor's term; these include streetlights being turned off at night during winter months and trash pickup becoming bi-weekly instead of once every two weeks like it used to be; these changes have resulted in some protests by vocal opponents who maintain that such draconian measures will lead to more crime and social unrest among the largely low-income residents who live adjacent to what used to be thriving high-end businesses until recent trends suggest otherwise [1].
