The first people to live here were Native Americans who were displaced by the gold rush. The first settlers arrived around 1854 and some built cabins while others constructed a log cabin on Coyote Creek. In 1865, Pleasant Hill became part of Alameda County when that county was formed from portions of Contra Costa and Marin counties. In 1898, following World War I, Alameda County merged with Fresno County to form California's most populous county again. At that time, Pleasant Hill had a population of 2,500 residents and its only store which operated for about ten years before being taken over by an adjacent business owner who closed it down in 1924 due to lack of sales revenue from food products produced in nearby Livermore National Laboratory which then made up much of Pleasant Hills' economy until itclosed its doors for good in 1987 due to budget cuts mandated by then-Governor Gray Davis as part as part of his efforts to save state government finances。 Today there are 3 schools within walking distance: one elementary school (Kernwood School), one middle school (Alma Mater), and one high school (Pleasant Hill Union High). There are also several businesses including two gas stations/convenience stores; two churches - both Baptist; several apartment buildings; three playgrounds; five tennis courts; six golf courses - all public; four restaurants - three American-owned but one produces organic produce - all chain restaurant size or smaller; seven Legionnaires Memorial Hospital outpatient clinics providing essential healthcare services such as tests for cancerous tumors or malaria treatments without having to go intopatient care; twenty-six water wells supplying not just Pleasant Hills but West Berkeley as well as much surrounding countryside

Starting in the 1940s, changes began to take place within the community that would ultimately result in its eventual demise. These changes included increasing social conservatism which led to increasing tensions between different sections of society; increased immigration from Asia which caused crime rates to increase; and an increase in automotive manufacturing which caused pollution levels within the community to reach dangerous levels. By 1970, few residents remained within the town limits and it completely ceased operations by 1980. Despite its ending years, many remnants of Pleasant Hill remain today including several amusement parks located within walking distance of downtown Niceville; two restaurants (The Lion’s Den and Michael’s); three churches (St James Episcopal Church & Methodist Church – both originally built around 1875; First Baptist Chapel - also original built around 1800); two schools (PleasantHill Elementary School & Northside Middle School – both were constructed between 1957-1958)and numerous homes dating back to before 1850 or even 1868
