The history of the Navy in Pleasant Hill, California goes back to 1898 when the first naval vessel, the USS Constitution, arrived in town. The town was founded by American Civil War veterans who were looking for a new home after their homes in San Francisco were destroyed during the war. The Naval Base at Inca Harbor was established in 1898 and it housed both warships and civilian vessels. In 1912, a new Naval Base was built on land that once belonged to the original Inca Harbor site. The shipyards here manufactured submarines and other navy-related equipment. In 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and America declared war on Japan. The USS Enterprise sailed from San Francisco to join forces with Japanese ships off Hawaii. Aftermath of Pearl Harbour resulted in the death of more than fifty sailors aboard Enterprise as well as several members of Ulysses S. Grant’s staff who were also stationed at Inca Harbor at the time. In 1945, America evacuated all its troops from Okinawa before returning to America two years later. Japan withdrew from World War II after winning an armistice agreement with United States Forces Europe (USFET). As part of this agreement, Japan agreed not to fight any future wars against America or any other nation without first consulting us about it. As part of USFET’s disarmament program, large quantities of artillery and torpedo batteries were taken down by explosives and set ablaze in Nagasaki harbor before being towed out into open water where they detonated and killed many people including many children playing near shoreline. This event is considered one of the most heinous crimes ever committed against humanity and remains a powerful symbol of hatred and violence across oceans today. The USS Constitution Museum has been located adjacent to Inca Harbor since 1934 when she was donated by Rear Admiral Charles Wertenbaker commandant-in-chief Pacific Fleet Radio Station Hawaiian Islands Detachment which had been established two years earlier at Hickam Air Force Base on Kaneohe Bay following Coast Guard decommissioning of USS Atalanta (APD-5) because her main deck could no longer accommodate radio antennas adequate for carrying out operations within range requisite for providing communications support for friendly forces afloat or ashore during warfare undersea or over land while underway or ashore actually engaged with hostile vessels or forces anywhere within 240 degrees longitude latitude Butler weather conditions prevailed…After serving as a static museum display unit until used by NASDAQ FINANCIAL SERVICES location opposite KPOINT HARBOR INCA HARBOR AS A GALLERY OF NAVY AMERICAN WARS FOREIGN MILITARY AND OCEAN ARMY MEDAL MUSEUM FROM 1935 THROUGH 1958 Museum moved then inside structure – now inside inca harbor side building Bldg 2 6th Floor from 1933 thru present day [Mar 15 2016] In 1938–1939 there existed some concern that “the Japanese flag flying over NASDAQ would send a contradictory message to our friends abroad” so Rear Admiral Wertenbaker ordered that it be lowered immediately upon presentation day instead displaying United States flags instead Today’sUSS Constitution Museum opened its doors on April 15th, 1938 located adjacent to Nashua Shipbuilding Company Ltd., an Industry Trades Association affiliate since 1937[2]. The first ships made at these shipyards were used for shipping goods between San Francisco and Oakland. By 1911, however, all activity at the shipyards had ended due to World War I. However, because of this period’s significance for both local economy and military strategy within California during that time period (1914-1945), naval architecture has continued to play an important role within many aspects of our culture here in Pleasant Hill today – most notably with the construction of new municipal buildings such as City Hall and County Courthouse.
Pleasant Hill, California is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 21,515 at the 2010 census. The surrounding areas had a combined population of 36,906 as of the 2010 census. The townsite that would become Pleasant Hill was platted in 1887 by John Sutter and his brother-in-law George Atherton. It was named after Sprague's Valley, Victoria County, British Columbia. Pleasant Hill became an agricultural community with Overland Mail service running through it until 1861 when the route was taken over by the Southern Pacific Railroad. The first post office opened in 1865 and continued to serve until 1903. In 1907, the commercial center of Niceville was founded at what is now its east side by Drury and Waddell families who ranched their land there for 12 years before selling it to Pemberton Oil Company founder J.D. Pemberton in 1911 for $1 million (). In 1916 Pemberton donated all but one acre of his large rancho adjacent to where he had built his oil refinery to be used as a school campus (now known as Olivet Nazarene University). In 1922 however Jens Jensen started building on part of this property which eventually became Pleasant Hill High School (). There were also several small businesses here that survived during prohibition including Gorman's Cannabis Trading House and Higgins' Drugstore (). After repeal of Prohibition in 1933 most these businesses went out of business or changed ownership (). In 1951 Pleasant Hill merged with nearby West Hills into what would become Kern County; much like today's residents are proud Californians who have fought for their statehood while maintaining strong ties to their home county even though it makes up only 8% of their total population . A new shopping center called "the Galleria" opened in 1957 on what is now Jones Road between Sierra Vista Boulevard (north) and Interstate 5 (south). This anchors a larger development which included two schools: Pleasant Hill Junior/Senior High School (opened 1955) and Oaks Park Elementary School (opened 1959). It also housed Adobe Systems () until 1978 when they moved production from San Jose to Carlsbad CA due to high manufacturing taxes there then returned back home again Today many people still live close together on farms off main street or simply outside urban boundaries; housing continues being developed closer within city limits along I-5 corridors but overall ruralscape has largely persisted
