One of the biggest influences on these businesses has been European Methods Coffee Roastery & Cafeteria (EMCR), which operated out of space at Sanitarium Hospital from 1974 until 1996 when it relocated to its current location on Stewart Avenue in Pleasanton proper. EMCR was instrumental in developing modern artisan coffee culture by teaching local farmers how to produce quality beans using organic methods - something that still continues to be integral to their approach today. The first coffee shop in Pleasanton was called the Coffee House and opened its doors on March 4, 1896. The business became the Coffee Shop of the World in 1937. In 1951, the coffee shop changed its name to The Peet's Coffee Company and continued serving roasts and brewed coffee until 1978. In that year, ownership of the store passed from The Peet's Coffee Company to Starbucks Corporation. In 2001, Starbucks Corporation merged with Keurig Green Mountain Inc., which made it one of the largest coffee companies in the world. Since then, The Peet's Coffee Company has been a part of Starbucks Corporation.
Pleasanton is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 44,723 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Peninsula and is north of Berkeley. The first Europeans to visit what is now Pleasanton were Spanish traders in 1769. A small community grew up around a Mission near today's downtown, and Fillmore Road became known as Mexican Highway 1. In 1848, when California acquired its statehood, Pleasanton was incorporated as a town. The name may be derived from "Pleasant Valley" which lay east of where it stands today and served as a grazing ground for cattle prior to Rancho Trinidad land ownership by George Hearst in 1876. In 1865, during the American Civil War, General John Custer's cavalry unit came through Pleasanton with supplies for his army during its campaign against Confederate General Robert Ewell (1814-1875). Many of Custer's troopers stopped at the store on Fillmore Road before continuing their journey southward across the Bay Bridge into Golden Gate Park. From here they took part in one of history's most dramatic battles – Battle of Palo Alto – losing 12 out of 14 officers and over 50% of their men including 6 heroes: Lieutenant Colonel James Wickersham (5th U.S., US Infantry), Second Lieutenant Salmon Peevey (2nd Utah Infantry), First Sergeant Amos Kendall (3rd Kansas Infantry), Corporal George Armstrong Custer (1st Nebraska Cavalry) and Private First Class Charles Sumner (6th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment). After World War II ended hostilities in 1945 and all but two Native American reservations were ceded to the United States government by treaty, Pleasanton saw an influx of white commuters who started commuting to Silicon Valley starting in 1958 or 1959; these early newcomers brought with them many distinctive buildings such as Jack Rice’s old Cadillac dealership on Telegraph Avenue that still stands today - now home to offices for Apple Inc., Googleplex and other tech companies dating back to those days... many more arrived after Interstate 80 was completed through town providing easy access both northbound from Livermore Valley into Oakland County via I-880 eastbound into Contra Costa County (+10 miles) while also creating new subdivisions within town boundaries not touched by this fast growth... By 2000 there were over 3400 residents living in what had been just under 3000 people when it went online... Today much older neighborhoods are being redeveloped such as Arguello/Livermore (+15 minutes' drive away)... nearly everything within walking distance has something commercial or cultural associated with it either directly or indirectly... A postcard dated October 2nd 1906 shows businesswoman Gertrude Bechtel taking her grandson Alvin down Market Street after school; she is wearing a dress made by her daughter Alice Bechtel Whitney who lived nearby then at 4202 North MacArthur Boulevard A map dated 1888 shows that property adjacent to present day Center Street included fields between Clay Creek Road & McCullough Avenue; this area would later become agricultural land used for growing haystack apples according to oral histories conducted about local farmers There are reports that opium poppies were grown here until 1915 The original water tower shown on a map published in 1916 does not appear on any current maps Although it appears likely that some sort of water service ran through this area until shortly before WWI it cannot be confirmed without further research A 1886 aerial view looking northeast showed businesses along Center Street between McCullough Ave & Clay Creek Rd.; site would later become Agricultural lands

Some might say that artisan coffee has been around forever, while others may only know about its recent resurgence in popularity. The earliest mention of artisan coffee is from 12 BC when Pythagoras brewed his first pot of beans. Coffee began to be brewed into cups and pots by the end of the century. At this point, many small cafes and restaurants had started to serve artisanal coffee with their own unique flavor profiles and aromas. Some believe that early Italian roasters were among the first to experiment with different roast styles, resulting in some incredible cup types such as Papua New Guinea Rooibos and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. By the 1890s, even prestigious European brands such as Peet’s and Koffee Klatch were starting to offer their own unique blends made from specific origins and roasts. But it wasn’t until after World War II that espresso became a widely accepted world beverage staple – thanks in part to giant companies like Starbucks Corporation taking over the roast houses throughout Europe and North America. However, even before then, small shops across the globe were providing quality espresso based on expert taste recommendations from their owners or managers. It was during this time that great minds like Angelo Sodano (founder of Nestle SA)and Alberto Morini (owner/operator of Il Giornale Café)started developing methods for frothing milk using hot air rather than water or cream to create amazing tastes unlike any other beverage on the market at that time! And just as importantly, these pioneers were able to take this knowledge and apply it back home where they lived – giving us today’s best Italian espresso experiences!

Pleasanton is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 26,826 as of the 2010 census. It is the most populous city within the county and the second most populous city in San Francisco County after San Francisco. It lies on both banks of the Merced River and has a total area of 362.5 square miles (967.6 km²). The first people to live in what is now Pleasanton began trading with Native Americans in the early 1800s. They built up a small village near present-day downtown before moving out about 1849 for fear of being taken by white settlers who were then expanding into their territory. In 1853, two brothers founded a bakery and grocery store at what is now Alameda and Mission Streets, which became one of Northern California's leading businesses during the time period known as "the Gold Rush." A post office called Pleasanton was established in 1857, and remained open until 1915. The first school in town was opened in 1865; it would become Pleasanton High School before being moved to its current location on College Avenue in 1903. Pleasanton incorporated as a city on December 16, 1896, following passage of legislation creating local government by voters throughout Contra Costa County. In 1916, when World War I entered into full force across America, many American servicemen came home from Europe via rail to find that their homes had been looted or burned down while they were gone--a phenomenon known as "The Great American Raid". The Municipal Court Building caught fire on October 15th that year resulting in $100 damages ($ million today) but no fatalities inside or outside the building due to quick response from firefighters under Lieutenant Colonel Clarence Jorgenson who later became president of Cal Fire (now CAL FIRE). Lt Col Jorgenson had just completed his academy training at San Francisco State University where he had majored in engineering and served as an assistant fireman with Engine Company 1Alpha at West Side Station when he learned about this problematical event taking place during wartime while stationed at Larkspur Barracks #1 north of Sacramento
Pleasanton was founded in 1847 by George Pleasanton and his brother John. The first post office was established in 1848, and the first school was opened in 1850. In 1865, Pleasanton became a town. The population of Pleasanton grew rapidly during the 1800s, reaching over 100,000 people by 1900. By 1940, the population had shrunk to under 30,000 people. However, growth resumed during the late 1990s and 2000s due to new development in the area.Today, Pleasanton is a thriving community with a strong economy and burgeoning cultural scene.
