In 1954, entrepreneur Julius Rosenwald purchased the business from its original owners and began to Swensen’s Coffee as it is now known. Today, Swensen’s Coffee is one of the most respected coffee businesses in America with a portfolio that includes iconic brands like Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee, Dunkin Donuts, cappuccinos at Carpinteria Café and more. Pomona has also become an important node for coffee research. Since 1915 when Dr. David Hershey first developed automated drip brewing machines for home brewers, research into this key component of coffee brewing have led to advancements in both technology and taste.
