The Pomona Marine Museum is one of the largest and most comprehensive maritime museums in the United States. Its collection of maritime artifacts spans over two centuries, from shipwrecks to Maritime Law history. The museum is open daily 9am-4pm. Admission is free for all visitors. The Pomona Marine Museum was founded in 1916 as a small museum on the waterfront in downtown Pomona by local businessman James Fenton (1856-1938). The first curator was Mr. Cohn, who collected items related to shipping and coastal life. In 1932, the Museum moved into its current building on First Street & Main Avenue and began collecting maritime art and artefacts from around the world. In 1951, the Museums Board of Directors decided to add a submarine section to their collection and hired American submarine expert CNO John Lattimore (1912-2005) as curator for Underwater Collections. In 1966, they purchased an old wharfboat called "Doris" which became their first submersible vessel exhibit in 1975. From 1976 until 1984, they operated out of a converted Italianatel hangar on I-5 south of town adjacent to US Navy's Naval Air Station El Segundo (later USCG El Segundo). This was also when they started exhibiting replicas of ancient sailing vessels dating back to c 15th century BC that were found at Mono Lake near Ontario, California by amateur treasure hunter Don Kingsbury during his dig for gold associated with Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza (1768-1834), which led him eventually discovered California's biggest gold rush sites including Placer Dome and Mount Whitney among others In 1985, they opened their own permanent facility outside of Pomona with additional galleries housing both Maritime law history exhibits such as Dutch East India Company Archives/Library #2) along with replica 18th century ships and boats from various regions around the world Since then they have been annually expanding their collection adding evermore interesting maritime objects both old and new! They have even created a pop up store inside their main building where you can buy unique items only available at The Pomona Marine Museum!

Pomona is a small town in Kern County, California. It was founded by Mexicans in 1853 and has been a Mexican American community since then. Pomona's economy is based on education and research opportunities. The Pomona Hills are an example of the high-elevation desert landscape that makes up much of the area. Pomona was originally named Rancho de las Palomas de la Sierra, after the Monterey Mountains to the north. It was land grants from Yuma County to José María Cabeza de Vaca in 1836, including what is now Pomona Valley. In 1839, Peralta granted 640 acres (247 hectares) to Antonio López as part of Rancho Santa Anita del Carmelo Nuevo y Zobelga. Zamora acquired title to 724 acres (269 hectares) east of downtown Pomona on February 8, 1850; this parcel became known as La Hacienda de los Olivos or "The Flower Farm". Los Angeles Times reporter George Hearst bought 6 square miles (15 km²) south of downtown Pomona from Zamora for $2,000 on October 21, 1896. The new owners built a small mill and started farming corn and other vegetables near their place of residence before getting involved in cattle ranching in 1902 In 1911 there were only 10 people living in Pomona when it was platted as a town by developer Will Rogers Jr., who hoped to duplicate nearby Claremont's success with its well-to-do population and university-affiliated professional class. With rapid growth during World War I due to munitions production at nearby Camp Pendleton Naval Base and civilian employment generated by military construction projects such as Hoover Dam, local boosters saw opportunity for more shopping malls and office buildings while maintaining open space for agriculture until post-war development brought increased traffic into town center along State Route 15W which had been improved as part of Air Force One Military Road project following World War II needs for housing developments adjacent to Navyyards at San Diego and Long Beach Naval Marine yards Incorporating both single family homesttes ('homes' being defined here generally meaning dwellings other than barracks or farmsteads used for agricultural purposes), industrial plants accommodating aircraft manufacturing industries associated with these yards likewise housing workersleshipping families within walking distance throughout most if not all instances portions thereof - primarily Midwestern United States servicemen returning home after service toursč Wonder Bread Factory Chain store opened located between Sears Tower & Elks Lodge building across SR 15W just west of AFB
Pomona was founded in 1825 by Captain George A. Goodwin and his wife, Eliza. The first post office was established in 1827, and the first courthouse was built in 1828. Pomona became a city on May 1, 1850. In 1912, Pomona Boulevard was created as part of the San Francisco Subway system.
