As coffee became a popular drink in America, it also migrated to California. The first record of coffee being brewed in the state is from 1848. Coffee beans were brought over by American traders and settlers as they traveled through Los Angeles County. By 1862, the first coffee shop was opened in Port Hueneme. The city of Port Hueneme was founded on Aug. 16, 1870 by Pedro Argüello and Juana de la Cruz Rivera. They named their town after Manuel Antonio Fernandez, who had served as captain general of California during the Mexican-American War (1846-1847). At that time, many wealthy Californians owned large parcels of land in Mexico City that they used for grazing purposes and shipping supplies back and forth between Mexico City and Alta California. The port city’s location made it an ideal location for distributing goods to farmers in southern California and its growing population attracted merchants and entrepreneurs who set up businesses importing goods from Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. During the early years of Port Hueneme’s history there were only a few small shops selling local produce such as grapes and apples. However, over time these stores grew into major hubs for local commerce with their own sales floors where customers could purchase everything from bread to clothing to woodworking supplies. In 1916, two brothers – Armando Vargas y Vargas and Vicente Ramos – opened a grocery store which quickly became one of the largest grocery stores in town. Over time this store developed into a retail complex with several buildings including a bakery/cafeteria; an automotive parts store; a bank; offices for the town’s school board; a post office; three churches (Catholic - Our Lady Of The Good Shepherd Catholic Church; Methodist - First Baptist Church & First Presbyterian Church); four blocks long with more than 100 storefronts providing convenient access to product shortages caused by World War I while also helping provide employment opportunities for locals during wartime periods After World War IIPort Hueneme experienced some growth but remained largely unchanged until 1978 when it became part of the newly created city of Ventura County under then governor Ronald Reagan . In 1978 Ventura County established its own government which led to new interests among business people in Ports Huanemone who lobbied county officials to establish an artisan coffee cooperative called Central Coast Coffee Roasters Incorporated (CCCRI). After much discussion CCCRI was granted incorporation status on Decatur Street within downtown Ventura on Janurary 2nd 1979 by then supervisor Donny Schleicher . With this milestone came new opportunities for growth including renovating existing buildings as well as launching new initiatives such as developing market research regarding preferences among consumers about different types of coffees blended together or all Hoffman Estates roasted coffees packaged together . At present CCCRI has more than fifty employees working out of six locations across seven counties spanning Santa Barbara through Orange Counties providing quality artisan coffee at competitive prices

The first coffeehouses in the town of Port Hueneme were opened in 1857. In 1887, a grocery store and coffee shop called The Grapes was built on Main Street. In 1912, a second grocery store and coffee shop named The Dutchman was built on Fourth Street. In 1923, a third grocery store and coffee shop named The Roasterie was built on First Street. In 1937, the first post office in Port Hueneme was opened on First Street.

Port Hueneme is a town in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 33,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Gabriel Valley region. The first European to visit Port Hueneme was Father Francisco Palou in 1769. Spanish missionaries and traders had a small mission at Point Conception on the Hueneme Peninsula until 1821 when they moved to Monterey Bay. At that time there were no ports on the Pacific coast so goods and passengers must have been brought in by sailing vessels from Acapulco or Manila. In 1848, Commodore John Davenport built brewhouse and warehouses on what are now Harbor Boulevard and First Street for the Export Company which he organized to export American wheat and other crops to Europe. A year later, Davenport established a post office in honor of Don José de la Cueva y Valdivia who had accompanied Commodore Davenport on his voyage from Mexico City to Stockton via Panama with supplies for General Antonio Lopez Alvarado's army invading Californias (1846). In 1861, Captain James Henshall chartered "Natchez" for three months with 30 men bound for Fort Vancouver where they intended to build wharves upon which ships could berth while supplies were being unloaded offshore. They never reached their destination because of an earthquake that destroyed Penrith Island near Point Conception about December 16th; severest natural disaster ever recorded in California during the antebellum period. The entire crew perished including Captains Henshall and Edward Everett Copley who made landfall January 10th just south of Point Conception after spending several weeks surfing overland from Santiago Baja California while ashore on Pico de los Llanos looking for new land sources of food & water! When news arrived back home of this event all items removed from stores at Fort Vancouver had gone missing! Aftermath many people believe that #7 Nanchez may have been lost forever! So it wasn't until 1876 when Captain George Dowling sailed his ship "Discovery" downriver from Monterey Bay loaded with flour, hay, coffee beans, etc., after hearing rumors that Mexico was exporting large quantities of gold) that anyone realized something might be wrong upriver. He anchored off present day Anza Borrego State Park below Big Sur before disembarking his company's mail boat due northward along present day Highway 1A (Heights Boulevard), past Eureka Beach then turned northwest onto Anza Borrego Coast Road leading up into Carlsbad National Monument where he stopped en route again only this time having success striking coins outcroppings along Buena Vista Beach between Anza Borrego State Park headquarters & Elk Grove Village Cemetery enroute back downriver past Big Sur Lagoon before finally landing at Brown's Wharf outside modern day Port Hueneme about mid-way between Big Sur & Carlsbad National Monument - making it one of just five U.S.-based commercial wharves located within Mexican territorial waters east of Baja California! From here he beganloading both salt pork (for livestock) as well as appleseed oilseed fields totaling some 2 million bushels/year which would soon become oneof America's leading agricultural exports—-thus starting what would become known as Rancho Santa Margarita –the largest private land grant in California history –and also providing much needed employment opportunities especially among local fishermen during tough times!. During World War II there was significant shipping activity taking place outboard off Seal Beach due north near Mud Island Naval Air Station primarily destined for R&R purposes aboard Navy vessels moored there but also carrying munitions vital for war effort such as aircraft engine parts procured through secret channels from Japan!). The last major port operations took place prior to closure in 1970 when most containers were transferred ashore by barge using then current Channel Islands Harbor!! Today Portsmouth Marine Terminal has acquired some 50% interest in renamed GTM Shipping Co.,Inc dba SeaWorld Parks Incorporated Operating Center serving both cargo and passenger services 24 hours/day 7 days a week!! This mammoth terminal complex covers nearly two acres inside an enclosed loop walkway adjacent Freehold Township’s eastern border stretching Back Bay waterfront all the way unto Redondo Beach!!! Some of the best-known artisan coffees include Columbian Heirloom Coffee, which is sourced from Columbia County, Ariz.; Rainforest Alliance Coffee, which is made from beans grown in Latin America; and Bodega d'Orchidea Coffee, which is sourced from Italy. These coffees are examples of how talented small-time brewers can create high-quality products that are enjoyed around the world. Today, many people enjoyartisan coffee for its unique flavor profile and its sustainability. Many different countries have laws that require artisans to source certain ingredients specific to their coffees—this allows these breweries to maintain a higher level of quality control than would be possible if they only relied on outside sources. Additionally, many artisan roasters now produce single origin coffees forte (a specialty blend) as well as blends that encompass different origins. This variety makes it easier for consumers to find exactly what they’re looking for when they buy artisan coffee.

Some of these roasters would start making their own coffee, while others would import beans from larger roasters. As time went on, some smaller roasters grew into big businesses and started selling their own brands of coffee. Port Hueneme, California is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 25,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit the area were Spanish missionaries in 1769.adera Port Hueneme was founded by Captain José Gomez and Juan Rodríguez on October 26, 1824 as San Pedro de Atascadero (now Yorba Linda). In 1849, ownership passed from Mexico to United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. On December 7, 1850, it became part of incorporated cities of Pasadena and Santa Paula with a population of 5,000 people each. In 1853–54 Mexican immigrants settled in what is now downtown Port Hueneme and soon started an industry that would make this town one of the most prosperous in Ventura County: shipbuilding and fishing. Shipyards were erected on Cannery Row which still exists today and continues to be used for boatbuilding purposes; modern port facilities have replaced much of these buildings but can still be seen around the corner from where they once stood. Fishing became a major industry after local rivers became accessible for coastal shipping during the Gold Rush era because new sources of revenue could be found inland rather than fetching prices at ports along the coast. In 1890–91 two ships destroyed by fire off Point Mugu were rebuilt at nearby Dockum's yard; this led to increased business for port officials since there was no other source for such high-quality vessels until then. By 1925 only a few small businesses remained in downtown Port Hueneme while many larger organizations had moved out into newer neighborhoods elsewhere within Ventura County or upstate New York City due to industrial growth throughout California during that decade. During World War II Japanese-Americans living near Point Mugu were interned without trial or judicial process; many residents who lived inland particularly those near Naval Air Station Long Beach did not know about their incarceration until later when news came through radio broadcasts Downtown Port Hueneme experienced significant redevelopment following World War II with several large companies moving into new buildings including Hewlett-Packard Company (later HP), Cal Poly Pomona University (CPA) and First Interstate Bancorporation (FIB). This period also saw an increase in social activity due to war-time shortages caused by post-war rationing. In 1957–58 demolition began on old pier fabricators' warehouses dating back to 1892 which resulted in more than 100 job losses.
However redevelopment continued unabated despite some negative consequences including health risks associated with asbestos exposure during pre-fabricated warehouse conversions.

Since its incorporation as an unincorporated community on December 7th 1850 under Mexican American rule it has experienced significant growth – both economically and socially.

"Dockum's Yard" – A Time Line Of Development

In 1836, the Mexican government ceded control of Rancho Viejo to American settlers. The first Anglo-Americans arrived at Port Hueneme in 1837, when Commodore John C. Fremont sailed into San Diego Bay on his exploratory vessel, the "Oregon" and landed about seventy-five men at what is now known as Point Conception. A short distance inland from the ship's landing, a small creek called Laguna de la Union was named for this site. A post office was established at Port Hueneme in 1839, and by 1840 there were twenty residents. In 1861, the town had a population of ninety-five people; by 1865 it had increased to one hundred and thirty-six. The first bridge over Laguna de la Union was built in 1872; it was replaced by a larger span in 1915. In 1940, during World War II, USS "Hueneme" (LPD 9) grounding her off Point Conception led to cleanup of some eleven thousand tons of munitions washed up on shoreline near Aquarius Cove; this event is also sometimes cited as the beginning of Port Hueneme's water recreation industry
