By 1860 there were over 200 people living inHueneme when it incorporated as an independent municipality under Spanish rule The post office opened atHueneme on October 12th, 1860 It served residents until 1912 when it closed due to lack of customers In 1916 Port Huenema got its own water system which allowed it to compete with other towns along Camarillo River On December 15th 1918 local citizens voted to become part of City Of Los Angeles In 1924 Hacienda Pacifico was sold by its owners to developer Waddell Clark who renamed it Portside Hall Clark invested $1 million into renovations which included creating a large promenade called Harbor Drive which runs along both sides of shoreline During World War II docks were requisitioned for use by Navy sailors stationed at nearby Naval Air Station Miramar After hostilities ended Portside Hall reverted back to its original name again before being sold once more - this time to developers Drysdale and Associates who renamed it Harbour Towers) In 1974 Portside Halls final sale occurred when developer Robert Laughlin bought it for $7 million . Laughlin turned it into a luxury hotel/conference center known today as Regency Park . It has been owned by several different families since then including current owner Corporate Services Partners LLC who purchased it from RLP last year
