There is no question that coffee has been a part of the Poway community for over 100 years. The first evidence of coffee grown in Poway can be found in an 1856 deed from Edwin C. Price to Joshua Boggs and Nathaniel Fenton, Jr. It was Price who named the area "Poway" after his country home, Pueblo de la Mesa, about 25 miles east of Poway on the San Diego-ijuana border. The earliest mention of coffee beans being roasted in Poway comes from 1885 when J.J. Sulloway bought some land along Balboa Avenue and prepared to roast coffee beans himself. One of the first cafes in Poway was opened by Mrs. Atherton near present day Balboa Avenue and Broadway in 1895 as the Gertrude Cafe.. In 1903, George Hildebrandt opened what would become known as The California Coffee Company at Third Street and E Street NW, serving up freshly roasted Arabica beans from small roasters all over America including Poway. In 1916, Harry Knoppers started another small roastery near present day First Street and Broadway which he called The Knoppers Café.. Over time other smaller cafes followed suit until there were more than 20 local businesses serving up fresh roasted coffeebeans throughout Poway every week during peak demand times! The late 1940s through 1960saw a large growth in English speaking immigrants coming to Powey because of World War II; many families adopted American citizenship and brought their own stores with them into the city center where they continued to sell excellent cupof Joe’s (coffee) until eventually owner/operators passed away or moved out entirely or closed their business due to various economic reasons such as limited space or competition from larger operations elsewhere within town limits. It wasn’t until 1993 that PWAY residents themselves began buying back into our historic business - starting with just one bagel shop per year! This continues today with several independent Bagel shops located throughout downtown – giving you access to world-class German-roasted coffeeplease whenever you please! In recent years we have seen a resurgence in interest among locals for traditional Mexican food - specifically guacamole - so we are currently working on introducing our very own maga taco stand next door at 318 S First St #B2

Poway's economy is based on its natural resources and services, including manufacturing and trade unions. The name "Poway" comes from the Chumash word "pawn," meaning to scavenge for food or other materials during a scarcity. The first person to settle in what is now Poway was Don Dayhoff in 1847. He named his land Rancho Santiago de los Caballeros after King Philip II of Spain who granted him land east of Mission Bay for ranching purposes. The settlement grew rapidly thanks to railroad construction and marketing by early settlers such as Domenic Sarno and John Jacob Astor. In 1912, Poway became part of the City of San Diego when it was annexed from Imperial Beach. The population reached 100,000 by 1920 but declined due to various factors including World War I service-connected fatalities and disease brought over by military personnel stationed at Naval Base Point Loma (now known as Legazpi Naval Air Station). However, growth resumed following the end of World War II with waves of new arrivals coming through Southern California Coast Defenses towns like Dana Point and Huntington Beach which were not impacted by war-time economic decline; this area became known as Silicon Valley because many technology companies were founded there during that time period including Apple Inc., Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Yahoo! Inc., Sun Microsystems Inc., Adobe Systems Incorporated and Oracle Corporation (and later Facebook). In 1990, Poway again passed through annexation into City limits - making it one of several former Ports Of Entry cities that have had their boundaries redesignated due to their increasing role within regional economies. As Silicon Valley continued to grow increasingly diverse in terms of industry employing large numbers of women – especially outside tech – so too did Poway's Hispanic community becoming more aggressive politically with a focus on public services such as education, housing development/construction and health care access etc.; this culminated in Mayor Leroy Burnham proclaiming February 12th “Hispanic Heritage Month” in 2014 To commemorate this milestone they sponsored an annual Luncheon presented by Member House Appropriations Subcommittee Chairwoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher flanked by Padres Executive Vice President Sandy Alderson (R) & Directors Roberto Aguirre Mendez & Roberto Clemente along with Mayor Leroy Burnham throughout downtown where invited dignitaries enjoyed networking opportunities prior to attending lunches across various Chambers Of Commerce locations statewide hosted annually throughout February similar events are also held throughout December honoring different aspects associated with Mexican American History Month

In 1865, John C. Hargrave purchased some maga coffee beans from an Ethiopian merchant and began importing them to Boston, Massachusetts. By 1875, Hargrave had started developing his own roast process and by 1886 was producing high-quality maga coffee beans at his Boston roastery. In 1924, John Waddell became president of American Coffee Roasters (AJR) and ordered all of AJR's roasting plants to begin producing maga coffee. This gave birth to the modern maga coffee industry as a whole. The popularity of this bean has led to its widespread distribution throughout the world today.
