The Coast Guard gift history in Rancho Cordova, California goes back to 1924 when the first Coast Guard Station was established in that town. In that year, the Town of Cordova formed a committee to donate land for a new station. The station was built on what is now known as Harbor Boulevard and it served as a temporary stop for shipping during World War I. In 1922, the New Mexico State Legislature passed an act providing for the erection of a permanent Coast Guard Station in Rancho Cordova. On July 1, 1924, the first permanent Coast Guard Station in California was opened at Rancho Cordova. At its height, the Coast Guard Station at Rancho Cordova had six boats and fifty-six employees. The Station played an important role in keeping our coast safe and ensuring maritime traffic flowed smoothly through our community. The Station continued to serve as our primary source of harbor security until 1966 when Headquarters moved to San Diego Bay. Today, there are three active Coast Guards Stations located throughout California: one at San Diego Bay; one at Point Loma; and one at Redondo Beach. Each station provides essential law enforcement services along with lifesaving activities such as Search and Rescue operations and local boat patrols. In addition to their important role in maintaining coastal safety and order, these stations also offer opportunities for civilians to learn about maritime law enforcement from experienced officers who are available 24/7/365. Additionally, each station offers visitors unique exhibits which explain how marine law affects everyday life on our coasts around the world. Rancho Cordova has been home to two of America’s oldest coast guard stations – HPB-Cordova (1924) & CGSC-Rancho Cordova (1966). These stations have helped protect both Highway 101 north of town as well as inland waterways like Mission Creek near Point Loma! While modern day helicopters can provide some of the same search and rescue capabilities enjoyed by old coast guard boats back in those days (like finding people stranded on Isla Mujeres), they just don’t quite cut it up close! Rancho Cordova was founded in 1853 by Manuel Rodríguez and his family. It is now a census-designated place (CDP) in southern San Diego County, California. The population of the CDP was 362 at the 2010 census. Rancho Cordova is part of the East San Diego Community District. The Rodriguez family ran a small ranch on what is now Rancho Cordova for more than 20 years before selling it to developer Edwin J. Jones in 1913. Jones built an office tower and other buildings near the original ranch house and planted wheat, barley, cotton, and other crops on what is now Hearst Castle National Monument. The town of Rancho Cordova sprang up around this development, which today remains one of its most popular tourist attractions. In 1969, Jones donated land to the City of San Diego for use as a park that would include portions of Hearst Castle National Monument along with new housing developments further east on Trumbull Avenue across from Interstate 5 for Vietnamese American veterans who had served in the Vietnam War. This park became known as "Rancho Park". In 1990, another donation from Jones made it possible to build a new courthouse next door to the old one at 9th Avenue and I Street NE - also known as "Jones Courthouse". Today, much of Rancho Cordova has been restored or preserved as part of Project Row House - an effort to bring back commercial activity to areas that have been abandoned for decades due to lack of interest or infrastructure support. The project's ultimate goal is to create thousands of jobs in area businesses while preserving many century-old properties along the way.

The Coast Guard operates more than 1,000 stations around the United States and Canada. The Coast Guard gift history begins with the founding of the American Red Cross in 1912. The Red Cross became a part of the Department of Commerce and Labor within the Federal government in 1913. In 1940, Congress created the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a separate agency under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9102. As part of this order, NOAA purchased land at Governors Key on Martha's Vineyard for their new headquarters building; this marks NOAA's first permanent home. After World War II, amendments were passed to the US Constitution which gave Congress power to establish revenue leagues or departments responsible for collecting tariffs from merchants over $1,000 per year. The Revenue League Act of 1946 authorized establishment of a coast guard branch within Customs and Excise so that law enforcement could be integrated into coastal protection activities In 1978, Congress amended Title 14 USC § 921(a) creating an independent agency known as United States Customs Service (USTCS). UTSCS was redesignated as approximately one hundred miles square by 1990 when it separated from Customs Service duties to become its own organization without any merger or duplication with other agencies within USDA/FDA/NRA etc

Rancho Cordova, California is a small town located in San Bernardino County in the central part of the state of California. The town was founded in 1847 by two brothers, Manuel and José Cordova. The Rancho Cordova land grant was bought by George C. Marshall in 1893 and it became part of the City of Los Angeles on April 14, 1907. The city annexed Rancho Cordova on January 9, 1932. In 1957, the name change to its current form, Rancho cordova. The first Europeans to visit Rancho Cordova were Juan Bautista de Anza and his party in 1769-70. A mission was established at this location in 1827 by Father Francisco Javier Claveria with twenty friars asociated with him under the jurisdiction of Mission San Gabriel Arcángel. By 1830 there were twenty-five inhabitants living here; six years later there were fifty eight residents including thirteen soldiers from Fort Tejon garrisoned at what is now Montebellum Park adjacent to ranch headquarters across from Main Street about one mile east of present day Cordova Boulevard (now Del Rio Boulevard). Mexican Mission Santa Anita had been built nearby on November 29, 1785 for Friar Antonio Sanchez y Peralta who arrived October 20th following a journey from Mexico City along Route 66 which he accurately described as follows: “I crossed into our country late yesterday afternoon from El Paso where we’d been staying since our arrival two weeks ago […] We are going upriver where I believe there are gold mines” In 1850 Manuel de la Torre discovered oil shale near what is now Monrovia while exploring for mineral rights with fellow ranchers José Moreno and Diego Rivera; they named their discovery "Rancho La Paloma" after Mrs Rivera's father General Mariano Rivera who donated land for it as well as other minerals discoveries around Las Vegas Valley during that period when Southern California was still part of Mexico until 1848 when it became an American territory under US rule following Mexican independence that year. Rancho Cordova, California was founded in 1847 by fray Jose de Mendoza and his wife Pascuala. It is located in the Inland Empire of Southern California. The town of Cordova was established about a mile east of today's rancho. Cattle were first brought to the area by Juan Bautista de Anza in 1781. Rancho Cordova became part of the Mexican territory after it was acquired by Mexico from Spain in 1821. The land that now makes up Rancho Cordova was originally part of the mission district which spanned much of what is today Orange County and Riverside County. The ranchos were claimed by various individuals until 1850 when it was given to José Arguello y Ulloa who named it "Rancho San Francisco". It passed through various hands until 1860 when it was sold to Francisco Reyes y Vargas who renamed it "Rancho Los Olivares". In 1867, it passed into the ownership of José Altamirano who changed its name to "Rancho San Fernando" before selling it to Antonio López de Santa Anna y Carrillo in 1872. He eventually gave it back to Reyes y Vargas and renamed it "Rancho Santiago del Estero" on November 15, 1888. It reverted back to its original name after Santa Anna died in 1898. In 1912, portions of this ranch were included within the city limits of Banning and later annexed into that city as well; however, most aspects remain within Rancho Cordova today including its ZIP code (90922).
