The Coast Guard Gift History in Rancho Cucamonga, California began with the creation of the Border Patrol on February 14, 1912. The first gift was a ring given by the U.S. Customs Service to Mexico’s Federal Police Commissioner, Manuel Avila y Gasset. In 1916, Captain John J. Daly became head of the Coast Guard Station at Seal Beach and decided to give away gifts from his collection of naval artifacts to civilians and law enforcement officers who helped protect the coast. Captain Daly started giving out Detective Badge sets, Life Saving Medals and other items such as radios and watches during his tenure as station commander until his death in 1951. After Captain Daly’s death, Lt.(jg) Raymond Senter took over as captain of the station from 1951-1957 and continued to give out items like lifejackets and watches while also purchasing new equipment such as a helicopter for use in rescuing sailors at sea or providing extra security for hearings on Capitol Hill before Congress. During this time period, Naval personnel also served as part of the Coast Guard detachment that provided security for Disneyland when it opened its gates in 1955. Captain Ernest Fenton assumed command of the station on July 1st 1957 afterLt.(jg) Senter left for retirement due to ageism within the Coast Guard he felt had not been treated fairly during his time as captain and lieutenant colonel commanding detachments along California's coastline since World War II including deployments in Korea (1951-1953), Panama Canal Zone (1954-1959), Vietnam (1966-1968), Persian Gulf (1976~1980), Operation Desert Storm/Iraqi Freedom (1991~1995)), support missions following 9/11(2001-2002), Hurricane Katrina aftermath starting October 4th 2005 through May 29th 2006., critical response following earthquake 8 September 2010 located just east of downtown San Diego County . In March 2014 Capt.(naval) Rick Kromer assumed command after Capt.(naval) Michael Berry resigned effective October 1st 2013 due to health reasons

Rancho Cucamonga is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 103,876 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of San Bernardino and shares borders with Riverside to the north, east and south. The first Europeans to visit Rancho Cucamonga were two men who named it after their rancho in Mexico: José Cucamonga and Manuel Nieto. Captain John Bancroft passed through this area in 1795 while exploring southern California for the United States and named what he found near present-day Villa Park "Cucamonga" after one of his maps. This name may be derived from point Cabrillo's Camp on Mission Creek which was known as "Cabrillo Point". In 1824, Joseph Sutter founded the town of Sutterville in what is now downtown Riverside just west of Lake Elsinore. He sold part of his holdings in Rancho Cucamonga to Wm. H. Richardson in 1847 for $1,000 (). Richardson renamed it Rancheros Valley after himself and erected a adobe hacienda there called La Paloma (the Palm). In 1863, Colter Pease acquired land southeast of Sutterville from Richardson which he organized as Crown Land Company First Class limited partnership with twelve members subject to stockholders' meetings at least once a year (). Pease formed a second partnership with Jno. Mott entitled Ranches Consolidated Mexican Land Company with thirty acres each ()() but this company failed within a few months because most people were too poor to buy any land (). After several failures, Pease sold all his lands except about four thousand acres near where he still lives today ()()). Rancho Cucamonga became an independent municipality on December 12, 1896 when it merged into the City of San Bernardino (). In 1959 it became part of the new Riverside County when it was created from parts of Riverside and Orange counties (). The cotton industry declined rapidly throughout much of Southern California during World War II due primarily to bombing raids by the United States Army Air Forces (), although some residents did manage to get rich through real estate deals during that time period (). However, cotton resumed growth following American entry into World War II due largely to post-war baby boomers moving into Southern California looking for jobs (). New subdivisions have been developed throughout portions of southeastern Riverside County since then including Estrella Hills (northwest corner), Reseda (southwest corner), Miramonte Hills (southeast corner), Poway (east border) and Carlsbad (northern border). Although many such developments have resulted in increased housing prices (), they have not contributed significantly either directly or indirectly to local economic growth over the years (). Consequently, although Rancho Cucamonga has experienced some modest recent prosperity (), its overall status has remained mainly one that includes longtime poverty among its citizens

In 1966, the Coast Guard established a rescue unit which was the first of its kind in the United States. The Service has also conducted many search and rescues missions throughout the years. Rancho Cucamonga, California is a small town in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 58 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Victorville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rancho Cucamonga was founded in 1868 by Charles W. Mason and named for his ranch east of Redlands, now in Riverside County. The first post office opened in 1870, and the first store opened on November 12th, 1870. In 1875, the Mormon Battalion fought at nearby Mount Whitney and one of their commanders called out to Captain John Sutter for help finding water to drink: "If it please your honor I have discovered a spring near this place which furnishes us with all we need for drinking purposes." The community rapidly grew as people from surrounding rural areas began arriving to work on the new American-owned land inside what is now Rancho Cucamonga city limits. They built homes made of adobe brick or stone with hipped roofs and deep gables that would remain popular throughout California's Gold Rush era. A number of businesses were established during this time including a brewery (1876), bakery (1877), saddlery (1879), barbershop (1881), livery stable (1901) and hotel/motel (1905). During World War II most residents took up arms to fight against Imperial Japanese forces that had invaded Southern California in 1941 but many chose not to return after they learned about American involvement. Many others who did return ended up working on local munitions plants until they could find other jobs again postwar. After the war many residents returned home and helped rebuild their communities while also raising families; some continued to live outside town while others added more stores, residences and businesses within town limits over time as development picked up speed once again throughout San Bernardino County thanks largely to Interstate 10 which bypassed downtowns along its route through southern San Bernardino counties making it easier for businesses to locate close together - something Rancho Cucamonga has been able to maintain ever since thanks in part to its location off I-10 just south of downtown Victorville where there are still today several large commercial properties such as Macy's Department Store as well as smaller shops/cafes catering primarily towards locals as well as tourists who come through town on various shopping occasions both big & small
