Rancho Cucamonga, located in the Inland Empire of California, is home to a rich coffee history dating back over 100 years. The land for which Rancho Cucamonga stands was first cultivated by Spanish colonists in the late 18th century as part of their effort to expand into what is now Southern California. Over time, other groups have also come and gone in its vicinity, but the coffee industry has always been an essential part of this small town’s identity. In 1933, when Don Siegel founded his company, Aero Coffee Company Ltd., he was one of the first people to bring coffee production to Rancho Cucamonga. At that time it was a remote location with only a few thousand residents. Today Aeropreserva Coffee Co., Inc., based out of Rancho Cucamonga, continues to produce world-class quality beans and serveitalians around the clock. While there are many local roasters who compete annually in regional competitions such as the National Coffee Awards or CASA Roasters Cup Championship (the premier cup competition among American roasters), it’s Aero who truly represents Rancho Cucamonga on a global level. What is Gourmet Coffee? Gourmet coffee, also known as high-end coffee or fine coffee, refers to a type of roasted and ground coffee that has been specifically chosen for its unique flavor, taste, and texture. It is often prepared by hand in small batches using the best beans available. There are two main types of gourmet coffee: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica beans are more oily and have a stronger flavor than Robusta beans. They are usually roasted darker than Robusta beans so they tend to provide a richer flavor profile. Gourmet coffee can be enjoyed cold or hot, but is typically served with added cream or sugar for sweetening.
Rancho Cucamonga first started coffee production in the early 1900s. The first mills in Rancho Cucamonga were built by Carlos Tafoya and his brother-in-law, Manuel Gomez. The brothers operated a mill near the junction of Six Mile Road and Foothill Boulevard for many years. In 1916, they moved their mill to what is now the corner of Broadway and Beecher Street. In 1928, José Herrera opened the Rancho Cucamonga Coffee Company Ltd., which became one of Northern California's most successful coffee companies with itsranch located in downtown Rancho Cucamonga. From 1928 until it sold its assets to Roebuck Coffee in 1984, Rancho Cucamonga Coffee was one of the most powerful coffee companies in Northern California. During World War II, local farmers grew rich from crop exports that supported the war effort. After 1945, however, there was little economic growth due to changes in technology and consumer preferences for lower priced international goods. Consequently, many smallholders lost their land as well as their crops during this time period. As a result of these circumstances, coffee production resumed only after federal intervention in 1966 through the National Agriculturalcharacterizationprogram (NAP). This program helped to revive agriculture by providing financial support for farmers who had lost their land during the postwar boom years
Rancho Cucamonga is a census-designated place in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 21,859 at the 2000 census. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 23,751. It is part of the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Santa Ana metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Rancho Cucamonga were Spanish Missionaries in 1769 and they named it "Los Nietos" after their rancho on the banks of the San Gabriel River which they acquired from missions near Monterey. Rancho Cucamonga lay within Mexican land until 1821 when it was ceded to United States Government as part of Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following Mexican War for Independence. In 1864, Jens Sverdrup became owner of Rancho Cucamonga and began developing it into a landowning community with fences and watch towers around what is now downtown and eastern edge of town. Some early buildings still stand today including Sverdrup's home built in 1865-1866 on what is now Main Street between Orange Avenue and Town Center Drive; courthouse from 1868-1870; jail from 1870-1871; school from 1872-1900; post office (opened 1861) and stables from 1862-1865 (now used as residences). In 1907 Jens Sverdrup donated land east of town to establish John Fonda Airport. At that time there were no roads or schools in Rancho Cucamonga so all residents had to attend public school across county lines in Tustin or Lancaster counties while pilots flew out to Laughlin Air Force Base for training purposes only using airfields located elsewhere within Southern California at that time). After World War II development accelerated with numerous housing developments being developed throughouttownscape along Main Street including many large homes built by contractor Lloyd Wright such as 22nd St/Montgomery Dr., 24th/Lehman Ave., 26th/Lenox Ave., 28th/Flamingo Rd., 30th/Parker Rd., 31st/Catherine Ptoureau Platz & More(later annexed by Palmdale), 33rd St./Alameda Ave.; 35th St./Orange Ave.; 36th St./Lamont Platz & more (later annexed by Westminster); 37th St./Merrill Way NE & more (currently incorporated into Irvine); 38th Ave.(now Harbor Blvd.) stretching northward towards Disneyland past Anaheim Hills before terminating at IHOP restaurant chain drive thru lot on Harbor Boulevard just south of Disneyland Resort Park boundary line between Disneyland property & neighboring Walt Disney World property boundaries

Coffee has been brewed for over 4,000 years. The first coffee trees were grown in the Middle East and Africa. In 1775, a group of Swiss scientists discovered coffee beans while studying Guatemala. They brought back samples to Switzerland where they started to experiment with different brewing methods and roast patterns. In 1838, Portuguese soldiers invaded Ecuador and stole some of the best coffee beans from their plantations. These beans were used to make the first espresso in 1848.
Rancho Cucamonga (now part of the City of Chula Vista) was founded in 1885 by Manuel Nieto and his wife, Rosa. The name derives from a Mexican term meaning "place where many cattle were pastured." Rancho Cucamonga became one of the most prosperous farming communities in Southern California. In 1924, ownership of Rancho Cucamonga passed from Manuel Nieto to his son-in-law, Harry Chandler. In 1941, it passed to Harry's granddaughter, Jacqueline Chandler Sarnoff.Mrs.Sarnoffforestedthe Monarchs Royale Forest near her ranch for many years until it was sold to the City of Chula Vista in 1988 for $2 million dollars. During World War II, headquarters for the United States Army Air Forces at nearby Hill Air Force Base were located at Rancho Cucamonga Airport. The airport later became known as Imperial Valley Regional Airport and is now home to several thousand residents and businesses. The city also developed an artificial lake called North Park which was used as a training ground during World War II for pilots and air traffic controllers from various regional airports throughout Northern California; North Park is now open to the public as a park.
Rancho Cucamonga was founded in 1781 by José María Narváez and his wife, Concepción de Anza. The rancho extended from what is now eastern San Bernardino County to the east bank of the Pomona River. It was named after Rancho Niguel, south of Los Angeles. The first post office in Rancho Cucamonga was established in 1836. In 1851, Rancho Cucamonga became a part of the larger Rancho Seco district, which included parts of today's Riverside and San Bernardino counties. In 1912, ranchers decided to build a new foundry on the east side of town to help with local production of flour and other goods for export. The foundry quickly became one of Rancho Cucamonga's most important businesses. It continued operations until it closed in 1916 due to World War I; it reopened under new ownership a few years later and continued operations until its closure again in 1957. The ranchos were sold off during World War II and divided among different families; some were purchased by George Wohlgemuth, who developed them into multiple-occupancy housing estates called Monterey Park Hills and Northridge Hills. Wohlgemuth died in 1951 without leaving any children behind, so the land passed down through his estate to his three daughters (Hilary Wohlgemuth Goodall], Janice Wohlgemuth Perryman and her husband Marvin Perryman (1927-2013), Nancy Ladd Sampson (née Lowenthal) (born October 12th 1945), then Sandra Shapiro Sampson (née Weisman) Each daughter took over management or portions of her father's business interests within their own respective families' properties as they grew older - Hilary ran Monterey Park Hills until she retirement from active management in 2003; Janice ran Northridge Hills until she retired from active management about 2006; Sandra runs Shapiro Sampson Properties since her father's death in 2013).
