Rancho Cucamonga is a small city in the San Bernardino Mountains of central California, located about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. It was founded in 1887 by George Fenton, who named it for Rancho Cahuenga, a grant he received from Governor Pio Pico. The city's first resident were Stagecoach drivers and guides who operated out of the old Post Office on Euclid Avenue. The area now known as Rancho Cucamonga became part of the City of Los Angeles on April 1, 1907. At that time, the eastern edge of what is now Rancho Cucamonga was still within City limits. The boundary change allowed development along what is now Elm Street and Wilmington Road - two important thoroughfares in early rancho life - and led to name changes for some areas within the city limits: Cherry Valley became West Covina and North Hollywood became Century City. In 1923, much to the dismay of many residents (including Mayor John Dyer), then-City Councilmember Harry Chandler agreed to sell all but one acre (0.50 square mile) of citrus grove at Willowbrook Park to AEGon Development Corporation for $1 million cash plus interest payments over 10 years. This gave rise to rumors that Chandler had given up his civic rights rather than allow development; however, no such sale took place. In 1933, during World War II, wartime housing shortages led Mayor Dyer to agree to lease 8 acres (3 ha) adjacent to Willowbrook Park from AEGon Development Corporation for use as an airfield used by Army bombers carrying supplies into Japan; this site later became Dodson Air Force Base. The agreement created considerable resentment among local residents because they were not consulted when this important facility was surrendered to Japanese forces without their knowledge or consent! In 1945 President Franklin D Roosevelt visited Rancho Cucamonga and announced plans for Naval Air Station Miramar being built there; rancho residents were outraged when they learned about these plans until finally learning about them through newspaper articles a few weeks later! Held every other year since 1948 at nearby Lancaster Airport near Eastvale Village in Lancaster County (northwest corner of Irvine County), it has been held more recently at Long Beach Airport near Compton Hills in Torrance County

Rancho Cucamonga is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 20,752 at the 2010 census. It is the easternmost city in Los Angeles County and the second-largest city east of the Mississippi River after New York City. Rancho Cucamonga was founded by Mexican Americans in 1872 as Rancho Palos Verdes. The name comes from Spanish "cuco" meaning rabbit or hare and "una" meaning one hundred. In 1978, Mayor Roberto Alvarado formed a public works committee to study plans for developing land bounded by Villa Park Boulevard on the south side of town and Mulholland Drive on the north side into mixed use residential/commercial space called "The Valley". This plan ultimately failed due to opposition from adjacent neighborhoods such as Lynwood which feared increased traffic congestion if development occurred on their property line near Interstate 15 between Ventura Boulevard and Weingarten Avenue (now known as Lankershim Boulevard). In 1984–1985, Mayor Rodrigo García created a new commission to study issues related to water resources storage at various locations within or around Rancho Cucamonga; this commission's final report recommended several actions including expanding agricultural production within city limits through irrigation with surface water brought in from elsewhere; creating off-street parking spaces for residents near schools; enlarging Norwalk Blvd.; and building two large Wastewater Treatment Plants capable of supplying more than 5 million gallons per day (gpd) each – these plants would have allowed single family homes located along norwalk Boulevard outside of downtown to generate electricity while still using wastewater for their needs (rather than having their sewage discharged into local waterways). Rancho Cucamonga was a Mexican land grant given in 1851 to José Maria Borda. It is located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The name means "farmstead on theuca" or wild grapevine. Rancho Cucamonga became a part of the United States in 1848 when California was granted as part of Alta California to American settlers. The rancho was confiscated by the U.S. government during the Mexican-American War and never regained its former status as a property grant. The first known inhabitants of Rancho Cucamonga were Mono Indians who lived along both sides of Rancho Cucamonga Creek for many years before they moved away around 1810-1812 because they felt threatened by cattle ranchers coming from nearby missions such as Mission Santa Ana de la Concepción and Mission San Gabriel Arcángel. In 1821, José Maria Borda purchased some land southeast of present-day Rancho Cucamonga from Juan Bautista Alvarado, one of the original owners ofranchotepecún which later became eastern Pasadena Township, now within Pasadena city limits; Borda renamed his land "Rancho de las Flores". In 1850, following Mexico's independence from Spain, President Fillmore ordered all remaining Spanish possessions in North America to be surrendered including Rancho Cucamonga which fell within what is now western Los Angeles County and southern Riverside County. On April 14, 1850, US Marshal George Armstrong Sheppard arrestedMexican immigrant Aurelio Martinez on suspicion that he had transported 700 head of livestock across US state lines without proper permits acquired through purchase or donation from Mexicans living outside Mexican provinces subject to US jurisdiction at that time - an act considered treasonous under then-existing legal code provisions governing empire building by American forces after Mexico's independence fromSpain). Rancho Cucamonga was founded in 1848 by José Real. The area that is now Rancho Cucamonga was part of the original ranchos granted to Juan Bautista Alvarado, who also granted a portion of it to Francisco Garza. In 1853, Rancho Cucamonga was sold to James Irvine. In 1875, Rancho Cucamonga became part of the new San Bernardino County and was included in the group of towns that were added to Riverside on January 4, 1907. On October 9, 1916, land east of I- 15 and south of SR 5 was donated to the city of Riverside by Arthur Halsey Carr as part of a public works project called "The Carson Project". The city developed this area into what is today known as North Riverside. In 1925, Jack Webb bought some property in town and established Webb Air Force Base there which remains operational today.
