After A&P's closure in 1984, local restaurateurs began to open new businesses including Joe's Cafeteria (now D'Angelo's Pizza), watering hole The Bullpen (now known as The Grog Shop), and movie theater Town Square until December 15th when First National Bank closed up shop due to economic recession that hit southern California hard at the time.
