In 1938, Yuma Countywas created and its first Coast Guard station became operational at Muir Woods National Monument. On May 14th 1941 District 3 Station (Shoreham) became operational when it moved from Point Mugu to Shasta Lake after being divided between Mono and Butte counties from October 1st 1940-April 15th 1941).

He allowed his properties to fall into disrepair so that he could keep them in use as a working farm and later opened them up as an amusement park with rides and games for children. In 1973, he sold his interest in the amusement park to developer Dick DeVos Jr.. After Dick DeVos Jr.'s death in 1986, his son Donald DeVise took over management of the amusement park and changed its name to "RanchoPalosVerDES". Today Rancho PalosVerDES is one of Southern California's most popular tourist destinations with millions visitors every year!

Rancho Palos Verdes, California is a small town located in Los Angeles County, California on the eastern edge of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is one of the most affluent communities in Southern California and has been home to many prominent families for centuries. The name "Rancho" comes from Spanish meaning "farmstead." The original Rancho Palos Verdes was established by José Palomo in 1825. His son Fernando and grandson Juan Antonio took over the property in 1881. Manuel Jerónimo de la Vega purchased it from them in 1886. In 1907, Harry Elmer Barnes bought the land and added 5,000 acres (2 km²) to it, making Rancho Palos Verdes one of the largest landowners in Southern California. The community began to grow rapidly during World War II when many scientists and engineers relocated there because of wartime demand for military supplies. In 1948, Rancho Palos Verdes became an incorporated city with its own city government and mayor. The population peaked at 15,000 people in 1960 but has since decreased due to suburbanization and other factors such as crime rates declining within a radius of .1 mile (0.3 km). Today, Rancho Palos Verdes remains an exclusive enclave withinLos Angeles County that offers excellent schools and infrastructure while still remaining relatively isolated from other parts of LA County.
