The Red Bluff Coast Guard Station was established in 1903. The original station was built on the present site of the old lighthouse. It was manned by a detachment of soldiers from Fort Ord, California. In 1916, the Coast Guard Station was redesignated as the Red Bluff Lighthouse District and it became an independent station with its own administration. In 1951, the district was merged into the Southern California Coastal Zone Authority and the Red Bluff Lighthouse is still used as a coast guardstation today. In 1903, when the Coast Guard Station at Red Bluff was first established, there were only five enlisted men on duty. By 1920, however, there were twenty-one men working at this station. The original lighthouse building located on present day Main Street served as our Headquarters until 1912 when a new structure was constructed which included a Officers’ Quarters and two Storehouses for Food and Supplies. The first Keeper of Our Lights (later Commodore) reported to us in 1914 from his duties at Cove Point Light House which he had taken over after Captain John Halsey’s death that year from natural causes! In 1921 we erected a new Customs House which served as both our Headquarters and Jail during Prohibition because no one could be trusted not to buy or sell liquor! Our Conservation Department equipped us with “Sinkers” (long poles jutting out of water to collect small fish) in 1922 to help prevent erosion along our coasts but these proved almost useless since even with them we couldn’t stop all erosion! So finally in 1926 we erected an Archway Tower with four Landing Platforms allowing us more than One Hundred Craftmen To Serve At A Time without fear of being overwhelmed! This tower remaineth standing todayalongside our current Administration Building housing both Administration offices & Command Post

The Red Bluff Coast Guard Station has been providing a historical gift to the community since 1912. The station was founded on December 12th, 1912 as the Red Bluff Lighthouse. It was renamed in 1941 after Captain George W. Hardy of the United States Coast Guard who served at the lighthouse from 1910-1941. In 1949, the Coast Guard Station moved from its original location on Post Road to its current location on State Street in Red Bluff. The station continues to serve as a vital part of the community and has been an important resource for locals and visitors alike.
Red Bluff, California (formerly Redding) is a city in and the county seat of Mono County, California, United States. The population was 30,812 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno–Chico–HDB area. The name "Red Bluff" originates from Mission San Gabriel Arcángel which was founded there in 1829 by Father José Altamira. In 1848, Californians Traveling Through Mono County found that they could not get to their places of business because there were no water crossings on the bluffs between Redding and Springdale. They decided to build a bridge over the river at what is now called Bridge Road and name it after their previous spot of business: "Reducing House", later shortened to "Redding". In 1886, when Yosemite National Park was created, most of Mono County became part of it. Redding fell within Tuolumne Meadows National Monument until 1994 when it was made an independent national monument again with much more acreage than originally allotted In 2006 Redding voters approved Measure T which doubled its budget for schools while keeping all other City programs unchanged

Red Bluff is a small town in California, located about an hour's drive from Sacramento. It was founded in 1848 by Joshua L. McDowell and his family as a post office on the banks of the Sacramento River. The first store had to be built close to where it now stands, since there was no water available for miles around. The population of Red Bluff slowly grew over the years, until it reached its peak in 1910 when it had just under 2,000 residents. However, by 1930 Red Bluff had declined significantly and only remained with a population of 500 people before disappearing completely from California census records in 1940. In spite of its decline, Red Bluff has left behind some significant history including two post offices - one called Gold Rush (1849-1855) and another called Old Timer (1910-1920). Additionally, the town became home to many important local politicos such as Mayor John Sutter and State Senator Hiram Johnson who are remembered locally for their roles in developing California into what it is today. In addition to its rich local history, Red Bluff also offers some interesting attractions such as the Joshua McDowell House which still stands as a reminder of how this small community began.
Red Bluff was founded in 1872 by W. H. Bechtel, who named it for his Red Bluff Mines, located in what is now Nevada. The mines were the first in the area and produced a valuable copper mineral. Bechtel built a small town around them, which he called Red Bluff City. In 1876, he sold the land to John Sutter and hired him as its first mayor. Sutter developed the city into an important transportation center for the region and made it one of the most prosperous towns in California.
