The Navy deployed a gift to Red Bluff, California in 1952. The gift was a plane. USS Enterprise (CV-6) embarked on the USS Montero (LPH-9) for Operation Neptune's Spear which was an amphibious assault against North Korea. The plane was brought ashore and given to the citizens of Red Bluff by Lieutenant Commander Arthur W. Ackerman, United States Navy (USN), who served as the senior officer aboard Enterprise during that deployment. The ship's crew donated all of their clothing and equipment they had while on shore leave to help withOperation Neptune's Spear. This gesture is commemorated each year on July 12th when the USS Enterprise arrives at Naval Base San Diego for Fleet Week festivities. In 1992, USS Enterprise returned to action after more than 20 years off shore duty in Japan. She again participated in Operation Neptune's Spear, this time attacking North Korea from waters off its coast. During her return voyage, she transported cargo and passengers between Okinawa and Guam before disembarking her troops at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan on October 16th for their deployment homeported at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni near Osaka, Japan

Red Bluff, California is a small town located in Imperial County, California. The population was 1,524 at the 2000 census. It is located on the border of Kern and Riverside Counties. The name "Red Bluff" comes from the nearby bluffs that are red because of the iron oxide present in the earth. The community was founded by prospectors in 1859 and began to grow when it became known as a stop on the Central Pacific Railway. Red Bluff has experienced many changes over its history. In 1915, it was renamed for General John J. Pershing after he helped protect Red River Valley from Mexican aggression. In 1923, it became part of Imperial County; however, it reverted to its original name in 1931 when Riverside County was established。 In recent years, Red Bluff has become an important center for agriculture due to its fertile land and ample irrigation systems. Red Bluff is a small town in Humboldt County, California, United States. The population was 476 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north bank of the Sacramento River. The town was originally called "Hill's Bluff" after Captain James Hill and his men who explored the area in 1848. The name was changed to Red Bluff in honor of General George Armstrong Custer, who fought in the Mexican-American War and died at Buena Vista Springs, Arizona. Red Bluff began as a Mormon settlement near present-day Dixon on February 21, 1851. The settlers were led by Brigham Young and John Davenport from Nauvoo, Illinois. They arrived at what is now Red Bluff with three oxen and five horses; they built a log cabin and named it Fort Hill." Fort Hill served as a military checkpoint for travelers coming up the Sacramento River from Mexico City before arriving at Stockton via boat or wagon train to build their towns there. In 1855, when Mormons from Salt Lake City relocated to Utah Territory, Fort Hill reverted to Indian ownership and became part of Red Bluff again. A post office was founded at Red Bluff on December 28th, 1858; it remained open until 1959 when it was moved to Dixon along with many other U.S. Post Offices located around that time due to urban growth within Humboldt County which created space limitations within old post offices that could no longer accommodate growing populations like those found in towns like Dixon which had been incorporated into larger municipalities since before statehood (Humboldt County had been organized May 13th of 1850). In 1893 an iron ore mine opened up close by known as "The Needles" with high production rates but closed shortly afterwards due to low grades caused by heavy pollution produced by burning ore in what would become known as "The Barker Mine". This mine continues today as one of the most polluted sites in California with over 500 metric tons of pollutants emitted yearly according to Environmental Protection Agency data . In 1951 an electric power plant started construction nearby using coal mined out from underground thanks largely to an agreement between local mining companies and Southern Pacific Railroad Company founder Samuel Morse Sr., Jr.. However this project also failed becausecoal prices collapsed during World War II leaving little money behind for new investments even though demand for electricity grew rapidly following World War II thanks largely to advances in transportation & communications technology including television & radio
