Redlands is a city in the Mono County, California, United States. The population was 30,898 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Sacramento River. The first coffeehouses were opened in Redlands in 1827 by John Sutter and his brother-in-law, George Kappler. Coffee became popularized in Redlands following its discovery there by Don Francisco de la Rúa y Valdivia in 1795 while he was exploring northern California for Spain. La Rúa's expedition discovered what would become Redlands about 36 miles (60 km) north of Los Angeles. Spanish colonists began growing coffee here from adobe bricks that they found near where the river flows into Lake Arrowhead. In 1830, José Joaquín Murillo founded Rancho San Ysidro which included much of what is now downtown Redlands and east side of town to include parts of today's hills beyond Millbrae Boulevard and Academy Road. By 1839, two years after Gold Rush days ended with an abbreviated gold rush at nearby Presidio of Monterey, murillo had built several buildings used as warehouses: one on land now occupied by University Park and another between First Street and Third Avenue south of City Park Plaza. The first store managed by Manuel Miranda opened on October 15th 1839 inside what is now Christ Church Cathedral School building on Main Street east of Academy Road

After years of growth and development, however, redLAND's infrastructure began reaching capacity around 1990-1991 when rapid growth led to overpopulation within existing boundaries; accordingly redLAND embarked on several ambitious projects intended at accommodating this over-capacity including construction of several large freeways (I-15/I-10), expansion of public education facilities (Redlands Unified School District Technical School District #1), installation of high speed fiber optic lines throughout redLAND (Southwestern Bell Telephone Company copper wire leased from Northern Telecom Co., Inc.), establishment of office parks adjacent thereto (such as Los Angeles International Airport - Orange County Business Park), acquisition or donation of additional parcels or subdividing existing neighborhoods within redLAND for housing purposes In addition to meeting increasing needs through comprehensive planning initiatives such as masterplanned neighborhoods that encompass all typesof residential dwellings instead of just single family homes or multi-family dwellings; REDLANDS also reduced traffic congestion while expanding freeway I-15 interchange 2 miles westward onto State Route 91A creating much needed offramps & passing lanes which have made travel into & out of downtown much more pleasant; installation & completion recently Of multiple new restaurantspaces throughout downtown which has helped reduce food insecurity amongst residents
