The Redlands National Guard has been in existence since 1912. The unit was organized as the California National Guard and First Battalion, Separate Infantry on December 11, 1912. On September 1, 1916 the battalion was redesignated and became the 3rd Battalion, California National Guard. In 1933 the battalion became the 9th Battalion, California National Guard and on July 1st 1934 it became the 10th Battalion. The battalion was redesignated again as the 11th Battalion on October 15th 1941. The battalion participated in World War II and served in both Europe and Asia. After war ended there were a few changes to how battalions functioned within national guard units but ultimately remained under state control until becoming part of federal jurisdiction when it merged with neighboring military units to become the Redlands Independent Army on May 15th 1946. On November 30th 1956 all battalions were consolidated into one organization known now as Redlands National Guardsmen-Redlands CA The first national guardsman in Redlands were a group of men who volunteered their services during World War I. They continued to volunteer militias into World War II as well but this time they enlisted for service not only in Europe but also China where they fought against communist forces. It is interesting to note that most of these troops never saw combat due to political reasons such as being drafted or being sent home before their expiration of their enlistment periods. After WWII ended any remaining troops from those wars were discharged or left for good without ever returning home to serve with their former unit again- an event which still remains unique today! One of the most significant moments for Redlanders when it came to national guard service was when Governor Ronald Reagan announced plans forthe formation of a nationwide militia system following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 . A year later on February 14th 1942 Californians had gathered at City Hall in downtown San Bernardino to take up arms against Japanese aggression however little did they know that this would be just the start…. This decision by Reagan marked a turning point for redlanders because prior thereto they had been primarily used as local militia which could only offer support if called upon by county sheriff’s deputies or other governing officials.. This change signaled something much larger; an opportunity existed for greater patriotism and resolve amongst Californians through organized action rather than sporadic events or window dressing). With this new development came new opportunities not only domestically but also internationally; after all, no one wanted another world war let alone another conflict with Japan! Sacramento County Sheriff John Roach was instrumental in initial planning stages leading up to Rationing Law Number 4 which granted automatic enrollment rights (meaning individuals who timely registered) within four days of declaration of war…..this law allowed citizens throughout Northern California accessto rations even though many reside outside Jurisdiction! This levelheadedness helped keep morale high among soldiers loyal to America while simultaneously frustrating enemies looking To capitalize politically off such an emergency situation! Government subsidized food allowances soon followed although initially limited exclusively unto soldiers residing within federally controlled areas……… eventually all civilians received food allowance regardless of residency status! As we know today there are many descendants of those early volunteers still living here in Redlands; some have retired from active duty while others continue fighting beside us every day………..thank you history!

The Redlands National Guard was established on Jan. 14, 1912, in Redlands, California as part of the United States federal government's response to the Spanish-Americans War. The first national guard unit was organized as a regiment at Fort Tejon on Jan. 10, 1913. The first unit to be stationed in Redlands was the 1st Battalion of the 19th Infantry Regiment based at Camp Banning. In 1923, the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 19th Infantry Regiment were combined into one battalion under command of Major General James P. Hogan Jr..
In 1940, when World War II began, General George C. Marshall activated the 3rd Cavalry Division from California and ordered it to Los Angeles County for training purposes only. On Nov. 25, 1941, 3rd Cavalry Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion arrived at Fort Sill in Oklahoma Territory for operations against Japanese forces located there as part of Operation Downfall which ended with Japan's surrender that same day. The detachment commander for 3rd Cavalry Division was Brigadier General John Ladd who later became Commanding General Allied Expeditionary Forces Europe during World War II until his retirement on Dec 5, 1945.
On Feb 17 1946 President Harry Truman issued Executive Order 9 Civilian Conservation Corps Holiday Program call for all American citizens between 18 years old and 50 years old to contribute five hours per week over 12 weeks to help improve highways and erect Christmas ornaments throughout America.

Redlands, California is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 27,828 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the Redlands Peninsula and bordered by the towns of Arroyo Grande to the south and east, Canoga Park to the north, and Fullerton to the northwest. The name "Redlands" was given by Captain John Sutter during his 1846 journey from Sacramento through what is now Orange County. He found a red sandstone hill called "Red Hill" while exploring Rancho Cucamonga southwest of present-day Northridge. The captain named it Redlands after one of his men saw a field with excellent red Sands in it near by. The first post office in Redlands was established on July 1, 1857, under the name of Rancho Palos Verdes northeast of present-day Pomona. The post office moved to its current location on May 7, 1860. The largest employer in Redlands until 2008 was Lockheed Martin where over 20% of workforce employed were employees at their Skunk Works Division which manufactures advanced fighter jets for both air force and navy use worldwide including F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters and MCU Advanced Design Projects program for autonomous vehicles

The war for independence was fought with militia forces and the national guard was essential in providing these forces with financial support and training. During World War II, the national Guard played an important role in the fight against Nazi Germany. In 1945, the post-war period saw a growth in military activity due to Korea and Vietnam. The number of troops serving in the national Guard has continued to grow since then, reaching over 100,000 members as of 2016. Today, the National Guardruly represents American democracy at home and abroad through its service in both presidential administrations as well as its commitment to public safety through law enforcement activities including emergency response drills and disaster relief missions.

Redlands was founded in 1879 by Dr. George W. Moffat and other locals as a small, unincorporated town on the edge of the Mojave Desert. At its peak, Redlands had about 1,000 residents and was a center for the production of grapes, nuts, and other agricultural products. The town declined during the early years of California’s Gold Rush because of competition from larger towns and mines in nearby Yosemite National Park. However, Redlands prospered during the late 1800s when it became one of the most important locations for grape production in California. In 1907, Redlands became an incorporated city with a population of over 100,000 people. The growth of Redlands has led to many development initiatives including the construction of several large riverside parks and schools that have helped create an attractive communityscape today.
Redlands, California is located in the San Joaquin Valley and was first settled by Native Americans. The area was part of Spanish Alta California before it became part of United States in 1848. The town was founded on July 6, 1861 by John Sutter and named for Redding Creek, which flowed through the town. The first post office opened in Redding on October 1, 1861. In 1875, the towns of Eastvale and La Verne were established adjacent to Redding.
