Air Force Deployed Gift History in Redwood City, California began with the founding of the United States Air Force. The USAF was founded on August 29, 1947 and consisted of three wings: the Fighter Command, the Tactical Air Command and Headquarters-in-Chief Central American Air Forces. Each wing had its own command structure and missions. The first mission of the USAF was to provide aerial defense against attacked by any nation or organization without warning. On December 8, 1951 President Harry Truman signed legislation creating Strategic Air Command (SAC). SAC was charged with providing merged strategic forces for strategic bombardment of selected targets in support of military operations. On September 20, 1955 General Curtis LeMay became commander-in-chief of SAC. At this time SACs strategic mission changed from providing air defense to attacking enemy nations or organizations with nuclear weapons as part of a nuclear deterrence policy. LeMay decided that instead he would use his position to promote gift history within SAC. Starting on October 1st, 1955 general LeMay organized gifts for all members of SAC at an event called "Gift Season". Gifts were given as thank yous for contributions made during previous years and were also included as part of promotional materials such as flyers and brochures distributed to units throughout the country. This program continued until 1957 when it was discontinued due to budget cuts within SAC leadership. In October 1958 General Curtis LeMay announced that he would be retiring from active duty at the age of 62 which created a vacancy in leadership for both Tactical Air Command (TACP) and Headquarters-in-Chief Central American Air Forces (HQCENTAF). HQCENTAF proposed organising a gift season in honor of Le May's retirement but no decision was made until May 1960 when it was decided that TACP should organize their own gift season in order to keep up with HQCENTAF's gift program which had become more popular than HQCENTAF's own gift program! On July 15th 1961 Majestic Airlines presented General Curtis LEEmay with a Boeing 707 airliner upon his retirement from service with TACP! This event is considered oneofthe most famous gifts given by the USAFto an individual! The Redwood City, California Air Force Deployed Gift History can be found at the Redwood City, California Airport. The Air Force stationed gift history began in 1942 when the United StatesAAF activated the 1st Bombardment Wing (1 BW). The wing was assigned to First Bomber Command and operated from RAF Bentwaters airfield. In 1945, Second Bomber Command activated the 2nd Bombardment Wing (2 BW) which was also located at Bentwaters. From 1946-1948, both wings were combined into the 3rd Bombardment Wing (3 BW) and continued to operate from RAF Bentwaters. As part of this organization, 1BW and 2BW were detached from First Bomber Command and reassigned to Second Bomber Command as part of Ninth Air Force. In 1949-1950, ThirdBombardmentWing merged with NinthAirforce and became known as Continental USAF’s 9th Airlift Wing. This unit flewlift missions throughout much of America before it was disbanded in 1960 due to budget cuts. In 1942 when United StatesAAF activated 1st Bombardment Wing (1 BW), weather conditions precluded its deployment outside of North America so a detachment of B-17 Flying Fortress aircraft were used for transport purposes between RAF Bentwaters in England and USAAF training base at Glendale Army Air Field near Los Angeles County on Long Beach Island off Southern California coastline on October 15th 1941 . On November 17th 1941 Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor resulting in damage to USS Missouri which necessitated an immediate reinforcement by USS Lexington - USS Santa Fe under Rear Admiral James Doolittle who took command of Task Unit 11G4 “Old Ironsides” on December 7th 1941 after Rear Admiral William Halsey relieved Admiral Kimmel as Commander Pacific Fleet staff member for operations against Japan . On January 25th 1942 two more aircraft detachments arrived via seaplane tender USS Tuscaloosa under Captain Walter Wickenheiser with additional pilots being flown in from various groups including Marine Fighter Squadron VMF-211 whose pilot Lt Colonel Carl Vinson became soon thereafter squadron captain while serving with 1 BW at Glendale Army Airfield near Los Angeles County on Long Beach Islandoff Southern California coastlineon October 15th 1941 . After damage caused by Japanese attack Pearl Harbor American forces started Operation "Alamo" an amphibious landing attempt planned for February 8th 1942 but postponed due shortage of personnel following December 7ths attack USAAF's HQ Fifth Mission Flying Division had been deployed earlier that month support elements units Detachment 101 “Pete” flying PBY Catalina seaplanes providing antisubmarine warfare patrols during naval exercises off Hawaii Aboard Aircraft carrier Enterprise Carrier Group 5 carriers participated: HMS Illustrious [CV 6], HMS Eagle [CV 8], HMAS Perth [HMAS Yarralumla] , HMAS Sydney [HMAS Cerberus] , Brisbane Tramways Company Limited NSW guinea pigs R/C version Douglas DC5Ds ferrying officers passengers mail between bases Hollywood Boulevard Naval Base & Terminal Islands later renamed "Laguna Niguel" then "Christmas Island" then finally Admiralty Islands where they made final approach before landing ..... Redwood City is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 64,651 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1853 by lumbermen and their families who built a post office and store on the east side of San Francisco Bay. The city grew rapidly during the Gold Rush period (1849-1855), reaching its peakpopulation of 120,000 in 1872. However, rapid growth led to problems such as soil depletion and traffic congestion. In 1916 Redwood City adopted a new government structure which included a mayor and nine trustees responsible for administration and financial management of the city. During World War II Redwood City became an important production site for military ammunition and other war materials due to its proximity to naval bases on San Francisco Bay. In recent years Redwood City has been struggling with economic decline, although it still retains some of the amenities typical of Silicon Valley towns like Mountain View or Palo Alto
The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History File (ADGF) is a repository of gift history and photos from the Department of Defense (DoD) for the benefit of service members and their families. The file was created in 1995 as part of the DOD Commander's Award program to recognize excellence in DoD gift management. The ADGF is managed by the Pentagon Gift Shop, which is part of the Directorate of Curatorial Affairs at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). The Pentagon Gift Shop oversees all DoD gift programs and manages all military department gift programs. It also administers the DoD Military Family Policy Program, which provides policy guidance on family issues related to deployment. Since its inception, the ADGF has housed more than 50,000 items including uniforms, equipment, books, posters, medals, emblems and other insignia from across the Department of Defense. Items have been donated by both active duty and reserve forces; National Guard units; and civilians. In 2017 alone, over $3 million was donated through ADGF donation drives. Today's incarnation of the ADGF owes much to retired Lt colonel Rick Ladd who served as Manager for Gifts for Peace during Operation Desert Storm in 1991-1992. At that time Directorate head Jeffery Ahern ordered that all gifts received from DOD functional areas be entered into an album known as "The Gifting Gallery." Redwood City, California is a city in San Mateo County, California. The population was 165,829 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Silicon Valley and one of the most diverse cities in the Bay Area. The first known inhabitants of Redwood City were two groups of Coast Miwok Indians who lived on the edge of present-day Redwood City from about 350 CE to 1100 CE. The Coast Miwok were later replaced by Mydokee Indians from Southeast Georgia circa 1700. A few years after that, European explorers discovered an area that overlooked today's downtown area and began trading with local Indians for goods such as fish and timber. In 1846, George Graham Scott founded Scott & Company Surveyors in what is now Redwood City with his brother AlfredGraham Scott. After surveying part of San Francisco Peninsula, they decided to move their business to what is now Menlo Park because it was then thought there would be more land for sale in this region than there was available elsewhere. In 1853, a group of Dutchmen arrived at Point Reyes Station on Marin County's coast and set up a small town called Novato on Point Reyes Peninsula before withdrawing due to lack of resources and competition from larger settlements inland. On July 28, 1860, David Alden Hill purchased Rancho Rinconada (later part of Menlo Park) from Diego Rivera for $621 per acre ($ when measured against current prices). Alden Hill built a house near Russian Village on Mariposa Street which he named "Russian Hill" after his contacts in Russia who had assisted him with this purchase. He also bought some adjacent property including present-day North Beach and South Beach between Russian Village and Junipero Serra Boulevard for $27 per acre ($ when measured against current prices). Redding brothers John Davenport (1837-1915) and Charles Dana Rohrbaugh (1839-1920), founders of Dana–Rohrbaugh Land Company developed areas north and east of Russian Village including present-day Daly City; their families are buried at Stockton Hills Cemetery in Daly City northeast of Russian Village where they laid down formal roots as American pioneers . On January 26, 1868 – one year before Californio pioneer José Castro established Palo Alto – Gold Rush prospector John Cushing filed a patent application naming himself "José Castro" for an agricultural steamboat he had constructed called "Castro". This Notice Of Patent #2155 dated February 1st listed three men associated with Jules Bachegrain & Co., Merchants Josiah Beckwith (a seaman), James Fenton (an agentfor rich Englishman Robert Peel who had interests in gold minesnear Sacramento)& others among those inventoried as inventors involved with boat or vesselbuilding utilizing Steam Heat power - none having yet been duly impressed! Even though no physical product corresponding to this invention has ever been found we believe it worth preserving since many early California pioneers secured early world renown through their technological advances... Interestingly enough this Notice Of Patent still exists today inside the Bachegrain Building located at 1281 Chestnut Street within walking distance bothof Google headquarters! Redwood City is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 43,241 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Pacific Coast and is part of the Silicon Valley metropolitan area. The first settlers in Redwood City were David Jones and his wife Mary Ann Haggerty who arrived in 1853. They named their new settlement after General John C. Fremont's old mission station at Redwood Shores, California. In 1856, the town was founded by William Murdoch and James Irvine as a seaside resort on Donner Pass between San Francisco and Sacramento with a population of fifty people. The original name for Redwood City was "Morgue Bay". In 1916, when Alta CA became an independent state, Redwood City changed its name to honor Governor Hiram Sutter of California. In 1962 it changed its name again to "Redwood City" because of concerns about possible confusion with nearby Palo Alto which had also been renamed Palo Alto in 1961 following the passage of Proposition 13 (the so-called "Palo Alto Tax"), which banned cities from changing their names without prior voter approval. On July 15th 1920 President Warren G Harding delivered his last State of the Union Address before being impeached two days later; this address included remarks condemning Proposition 8 (the sale of gay marriage licenses), an issue that would become relevant to Redwood City during World War II due to its proximity to San Francisco International Airport (SFO). On October 14th 1941 during World War II Japanese bombers bombed downtown Redwood City killing thirty-six people and injuring over 150; many buildings including Santa Clara University's School Building remain standing today as part of downtown Oakland's preserved fabric . In 1969 when Golden Gate Park was established there were only three homes within one mile (2 km) of what is now Civic Center; these homes are now considered historic sites . In 1976 when Silicon Valley began expanding rapidly into other parts of Northern California it started moving people out into central Contra Costa County but continued to call itself Silicon Valley until 1984 when they moved all offices southward into East Palo Alto (). After 25 years they finally changed their name back to 'Redwoods' on February 17th 2002
