The first roasting company in Reedley was located on Main Street between Hwy 1 and 2. It operated from 1875-1915 and produced an excellent cup of coffee that continues to be popular today. The company’s roastmasters were known for their painstaking care in selecting the best beans for their signature flavor profile. In 1945, it merged with two other companies to form what is now called “Coffee Bean & Coffee Company”. Reedley is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,693 at the 2010 census. Reedley was founded in 1887 by Capt. John H. Reed and his wife Anna Maria as a small agricultural community on the banks of the Kings River. In 1907, Reedley became an incorporated town and has since grown to be one of the most established communities in Kern County. The first people to live here were Native Americans who hunted and collected game on the local hillsides. In 1887, Captain John H. Reed organized a group of farmers and mechanics to build a home on what is now downtown Reedley. They named their new community after Liberty Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they had been living for some time before moving westward into Kern County. In 1907, when Reedley became an incorporated town it had a population of just over 100 residents including 20 women and 10 children who lived with their parents or other relatives until they could find enough money to buy themselves homes of their own.Today, many people remember early days when people went about their daily lives without ever thinking about technology such as cars or air conditioning; life was more physical and subsistence based than it is today! Many businesses have been located in downtown Reedley over the years including The General Store which still stands today (renovated in 2013) as one of the most popular tourist destinations in town due to its unique history, architecture and numerous items for sale inside! Other popular spots around town include The Old Mill which served as both a blacksmith shop and grocery store from 1886-1920; The Gilded Age Saloon which operated from 1913-1945; The Lion’s Den Restaurant which opened its doors in 1957 featuring imported Italian food; current day stores like Nordstrom Rack full of old clothes & memorabilia from various eras all within easy walking distance! Springtime sees plenty of events taking place throughout downtown including Farmers Markets held throughout late March/early April followed by summerfestivals that take place throughout July/August each year! Finally there are annual ice cream socials during December called “Frosty Fairs”! These events provide much needed family fun together while also helping support Downtown Reedley directly!!

Reed and named after him. The city's first post office opened in 1870. The name "Reedley" was changed to "Contra Costa" in 1907, and then to "Reedley-Monroe" in 1928. In 1951, the City Council approved the renaming of the city to Reedley-Monroe after Boston Red Sox pitcher right fielder Larry Monroe.
