The city developed its own commercial district, which included several cafes and restaurants that served artisan coffee products. In 1976, Ridgecrest became a municipally-operated school district. As the town grew more diverse and cosmopolitan, its residents began to gravitate towards different types of coffee products and services. This migration led to the development of several artisan coffee businesses within the confines of Ridgecrest itself.
