The Coast Guard gift history in Ripon, California can be traced back to the early days of its existence. In 1918, the Coast Guard was created as part of the newly formed United States Coast Guard. At that time, there were no coast guard stations located anywhere within the state of California. As a result, the Coast Guard began operating out of Fort Irwin on Orange County’s east side. In 1923, Captain John Maffei was appointed Commandant of the Coast Guards at Fort MacArthur on San Pedro Bay. Captain Maffei and his team started putting together a gift shop inside Headquarters at Fort MacArthur for use by members of the garrison. The first items that Captain Maffei sold from his store were colorful badges and buttons made from lace and thread. In 1927, Captain Harry Nesbitt took over command of Headquarters at Fort MacArthur and began expandingCaptain Maffei’s gift shop into an entire floor inside Headquarters with a variety of vessels up for sale including both seaplanes and boats! The store became known as “Nesbitt’s Naval Store” after its founder. Many notable individuals have been associated with Nesbitt’s Naval Store over the years including Rear Admiral David Sennett (served during World War II), Vice Admiral Charles Halsey (who commanded American forces in Okinawa), Admrete General Omar Bradley ( commander-in-chief Allied Forces Europe) and many more! Today, Nesbitt’s Naval Store is still open for business with merchandise available all year round! It is interesting to note that even though Headquarters at Fort MacArthur was closed down in 1945 due to congressional restrictions on military spending, nautical gifts continued to be given from then until 1978 when they were finally discontinued altogether! The purchase by Commodore Raymond Jahn in 1978 marked the beginning of what would become known as “the Golden Age Of Coastal Defense Gift History”! This period saw an increase in coastal guard gifts throughout California due to increased awareness about maritime threats posed by smugglers, terrorists and other criminals! Gift giving during this time also became popular among civilians because it symbolized support for law enforcement efforts on our state's coastline! Over time, many special editions have been published honoring various coast guard officers or events related to coastal defense such as National Memorial Day - which has since become a national holiday - or Remembrance Day when it marks everything from lost lives to celebrating our nation's heritage against terrorism! It truly is an honor to give something Back To Our Country these days!!

Ripon, California is located in the Kern County of Southern California. The community was originally founded by pioneers in 1879 as a small town on the edge of what is now Yosemite National Park. It grew rapidly during the late 19th century as gold and silver were discovered in the region, and by World War II it had become one of the most populous communities in Kern County. However, since the 1990s its growth has been restricted by a lack of affordable housing and a high population density. In 2016, Ripon voters passed an initiative to seek annexation into city status. If accepted, Ripon would be one of only two Californian cities with this distinction. The history of Ripon began with settlers who arrived in 1879 on horseback from Texas. By 1890, there were about 100 residents living in what is now Ripon; however, it did not achieve a strong economic presence until after World War II when agriculture became more prevalent and industry began to arrive. The early years were difficult for riparian communities like Ripon because they were at close range to Mono Lake which provided water for irrigation purposes but also yielded scarce gold nuggets that enabled miners to prosper. Despite this obstacle, local entrepreneurs built businesses such as grocery stores, meatpacking plants and hotels while maintaining heavyependence on Mono Lake for water supply and other amenities such as power generation and transportation. During the 1960s Rancho Santa Fe developers subdivided land south of Interstate 5 so that new homes could be built closer to employment centers like Los Angeles or San Bernardino Valley; however, development never approached levels seen before or after then due to low values for land near major highways (the last significant barrier) and environmental concerns around mining operations adjacent to sensitive watersheds critical for both local salmon populations AND their spawning grounds). In 2016 community members voted 3-2/initiative "Addendum No." 1 (AD1), seeking annexation into city status under provisions therein allowing special rights including zoning authority over certain areas within City limits - including commercial corridors near I-5 - should annexed businesses maintain access to quality drinking water sources (currently these waters are sourced from small streams adjoining property lines), allow greater densities within City limits without sacrificing public open space availability or impact upon diverse cultural heritage sites nearby: specifically McCaslin Auditorium & surrounding campus park Preserve & amphitheater park known locally as "The Grapes" (& adjacent industrial lands comprising approximately 2 square miles) Other objectives included increasing affordability withinCity limits through relocation assistance programs available through annexing City government agencies; creating an elected Mayor & Councilmember system responsible for managing entire City affairs; providing 12 hour day/week job opportunities across all Community sectors while preserving rural character & lifestyle withinCity limits thru healthy food production practices supported by agricultural producers withinCity boundaries [-=]
