This history begins with Dutch immigrants who began cultivating coffee beans in the area in the early 1800s. The first European settlers to visit Rohnert Park were those from Switzerland, who named the area after their home town of Rheinfelden. After a few years of growth, they decided to move their business inland to what is now known as Valley Village. In 1892, local businessman George Bickman developed what would become Bickman’s Coffee Company on East Main Street. This company became one of the earliest roasters of Arabica coffee beans and still remains a Legacy brand today. Throughout the years, many different entrepreneurs have contributed to the growth of Rohnert Park Coffee Center. Among these notable individuals are Harry Weingarten (founder and CEO of Starbucks), Don Peebles (founder and CEO of Home Box Office), Herb Koffler (founder and CEO of Safeway), Bob Strauss (co-founder and CEO of Time Warner) and John McConnell (founder and CEO of McConnell’s Brewing). Today, there are more than 125 businesses that operate within Rohnert Park Coffee Center’s walls! Some of the first roasters in Rohnert Park were The Koffee Klatch Coffee Company and Java Junction Coffee. In 1888, Harry Baumann founded The Green Mountain Coffee Co., which was one of the first large-scale coffee roasters in North America. The company roasted a variety of beans including Sumatra, Colombian, and Ethiopian. By 1912, Green Mountain had become one of the largest coffee companies in the world. In 1946, Bob Peet founded Bob's Best Coffee & Tea in Rohnert Park after moving to the area from San Francisco Bay Area. Peet began serving high-quality espresso drinks and bagels until his death in 1984. His son John continued operations as Bob's Best Roastery & Cafe until it closed down in 2007. Currently, Burlington Coffee has been operating as a small cafe inside of Jamba Juice since 2014 adjacent to Rohnert Park High School on West End Avenue near Ballon Road

Rohnert Park is a city in Marin County, California, United States. The population was 24,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of San Francisco Bay and has a history dating back to 1868 when it was part of the independent town of Sausalito. The first post office in Rohnert Park was established in 1868. The name derived from nearby Rheinbach Creek which flowed through the community. In 1896, Rohnert Park incorporated as a city under the name of Sausalito. At that time it included all of what is now Marin County except for parts of Deep Springs and Tiburon counties which became part of San Francisco after 1906. Rohnert Park was founded in 1875 by George A. Rohnert, a landowner and developer who owned the town of Menlo Park. The first permanent settler in Rohnert Park was William H. Pemberton, who arrived in 1876. In 1882, Rohnert Park became part of Palo Alto County and was incorporated as a city on December 4, 1886. The city experienced growth during the late 19th century and early 20th century due to its strategic location within Silicon Valley and its connection to San Francisco Bay via the Dumbarton Bridge. During World War II, the city's economy soared due to military spending by California Defense Forces residents and businesses. However, following the end of World War II, economic decline took hold in Rohnert Park with declining population density and falling values for real estate assets. In 1971, Mayor Dianne Feinstein enacted Measure B which increased tax rates in order to reduce chronic financial deficits that had been plaguing the city since the 1970s. This measure led to mass layoffs throughout local businesses and laid off many residents who had come to rely on City services such as police protection and firefightingprotection. In 1987, voters passed Proposition 21 which repealed Measures B and C while increasing general taxes by 5%. This measure led to another round of layoffs as businesses placed an increased demand for employee raises but also decreased access to affordable housing due to higher property prices outside of central Rohnert Park
