Rohnert Park is a city in Marin County, California, located on the north coast of San Francisco Bay. The population was 27,898 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1881 by James K. The park straddles both banks of Coyote Creek which forms its southern border and offers panoramic views of Sausalito and Golden Gate Bridge to the east and Marin County to the west. The park has been home to various types of recreational activities for centuries including hunting, fishing, hiking/biking/running/jogging etc., making it one of North America's most popular tourist destinations for outdoor enthusiasts. Rohnert Park is a city in western San Francisco, located on the Peninsula between the Golden Gate Bridge and Telegraph Hill. The population was 64,827 at the 2010 census. The park was named for Captain George C. Rohnert, who had since 1848 been General Manager of the Mare Island Navy Yard. In 1927, Mayor James McKee recommended that the name be changed to honor Alice Paul memorializing her civil rights work in California and Alabama. The first permanent settler in what is now Rohnert Park was Nicholas Jenssen in 1847. He leased land from John Sutter on Nov. 10, 1849 and began building a house on what is now Fifth Avenue near Mission Bayou. A few years later Jenssen sold his lot to John Doherty who built a cabin thereon before selling it to Benjamin Waterman in 1860 for $2 per acre (later raised to $5). To commemorate this event Dorer erected a large granite marker at water's edge reading: "John Doherty & Benjamin Waterman - November 10th 1849". One of the earliest settlers in what is now Rohnert Park was George Cranch. He purchased 640 acres of Rancho Rincon de la Paloma from Manuel Nieto on Feb 1st,1859 for $10 per acre ($360 total purchase price) payable over five years with interest and another $100 down payment made two months later when he conveyed title deed #1 to his son-in-law Prentice Cole along with all other homesteads within Rincon de la Paloma for what would become known as Rohnert Park today! This initial purchase set off a chain reaction that led to more than 2,000 pioneers moving into this area during those early days! Prior to 1861 it lay within Spanish territory under Bandera Governor Manuel Micheltorena which meant that white landowners could do whatever they pleased with their properties! However when Mexico became an American nation following its forcedcession of Mexico by America, Congress passed an act giving Americans exclusive property ownership rights over Mexican soil! This resulted in many Mexicans becoming refugees or displaced Persons living among us throughout our history – some forever lost while others found their way back home eventually assimilating into American society; however until recent times most of these original Hispanic residents have largely disappeared from our landscape!! This period also saw some major changes take place within our community as well; namely – enrollment at local public schools increased markedly due primarily to newly opened ranches east of Caledonia Road providing access leading directly into town/northwest of today’s Kresser Drive; furthermore families soon began traveling westward towards downtown San Francisco seeking opportunities unavailable back east where resources were more limited and prices higher . civic organizations were formed quickly such as the First Methodist Episcopal Church founded by Reverend Julius Rosenwald shortly after arriving here from Chicago; indeed “Rohnert Park” actually came about because Reverend Rosenwald believed that if these people could help create values here then maybe something good would come out of their efforts !! Development continued apace until World War II when things slowed significantly as residences dwindled along with industry spawning new jobs across various sectors including munitions manufacturing required significant amounts of fresh air !! After WWII things picked up again but slowly until recently culminating in current day development patterns which are quite unique given today’s overall growth trends !!

In 1916, Rohnert Park became an incorporated town with a central business district. The town continued to grow, and by 1930 it had a population of over 3400. In 1936, Rohnert Park annexed the neighboring towns of Winterset and Pleasanton. By 1960, the population of Rohnert Park had reached 6500 people. In 1976, the city of San Francisco annexed Rohnert Park, making it an official city-sanctioned suburb of San Francisco.
